Hey guys,

I have been transitioning from relaxed to natural for 10 months and have about 4-5 inches of new growth.....i'm lovin my new texture of waves and curls...I really am in love!!!:drunk:

However whilst my new growth looks and feels thick and healthy my ends are looking, dull, dry and dead(the dreadfull D'S!!!!) I have seen pictures of other girls who are transitioning and their ends still look relatively healthy, nothing like mine. I did dye my hair a while before i decided to grow natural so i know that could also be playing a major part in it...but damn it loks real bad. :wallbash::wallbash:

I have had my hair out in a bun for the past week or so (it's usually in braids or a weave), I'm due to get my hair rebraided tomorrow so if anyone has any tips or suggestions, please let me know (by the way the big chop is not an optin, i'm just not ready for that yet) but i am definetly open to trims...:look:

Ladies please help!!!!

TIA

Not sure if there's anything you can do. If your ends were relaxed bone straight, it will look noticeably thinner in contrast to your new growth. For those that were texlaxed, their new growth and relaxed ends might look a bit more uniform.
I have heard ladies say that henna thickens hair strands but I've never tried it myself.
Maybe braidouts/twistouts will help the two textures blend well together.

ITA...not sure that you could actually make them thicker. My last stretch was 7 months and my bone straight ends looked absolutely pathetic. I think the best you could do is baby your ends w/ a quality oil.

Thanks a lot, i'll have to keep trying my deep treatments and i will try henna and see how it turns out....thanks girls

I may have to consider the big chop sooner than i thought

I agree with the other ladies, when I transitioned a few years ago my hair did the same thing. My roots were so thick and lush and those poor relaxed ends just hung there like wet mop strings. It's not that you're neccesarily doing anything wrong, I think it just kinda comes with the territory, so to speak.

Ohhh, i thought i had been cursed or something...lol..thanks. By the way how long did you transition for?

If you can find someone you trust, a good trim will make a big difference. You'll find detangling will be easier without any broken ends.

It took me a few years to fully transition, I wasn't ready for the big chop (already did that once). I wore a lot of braids.

I guess about 6 or 7 months then I BC'd. But I only stayed natural for about a 8 or 9 months. This was way before LHCF, if I knew then what I know now I would still be natural. :yep:
