What is the "cold shot" button on my dryer for?

I have a Conair Hair Dryer with Ion Shine Styler and there is a cold shot button. What in the WORLD am I supposed to do with this?

I can't see what the point of it is? What is it supposed to do for your hair?

A cold shot seals the hair cuticle after blow drying with heat. Gives a smooth finish to the style, and adds shine.

Also, sometimes it is hard to tell if warm hair is actually dry. You don't want damp scalp/hair. Finishing with a cold shot will let you better feel which parts need additional drying so you don't fry your hair and overdry where you shouldn't.

I use it to elongate my curls when I define them through shingling or denman brush method. I dry each section by blowing on warm air and pulling slightly. I then apply a shot of cold hair which stops the hair from shrinking up

Yes this method is really good especially when you want the hair to hang below your ears/down your back. You cannot apply too much tension- just a liitle to slightly stretch out the curls, section by section.

Me too. I let my hair air dry mostly, and then I go over it with the cool blast to make sure its all dry. I didn't realize how HOT the other settings were until I started using the cool button.
