I haven't tried it, but I bookmarked it in case I decide to.

About whether you can be at APL by December, I always tell people it's better not to set deadlines coz you are more likely to set yourself up for failure when you do this. The hair journey becomes more exciting if you focus more on learning about and enjoying your hair, than on reaching a certain point. If you can focus on the health of your hair and knowing how to read any signs it sends you, then you will have the best experience ever. Ask anyone who's woken up one day and been shocked to find out they passed a milestone they never could attain before when they didn't know it. Ask them if they could trade that feeling for anything else. I bet you they would not.

Whimsy started two really good threads asking people to show a year's progress and two years' progress. Those threads can really give you an idea of what the average growth looks like so you don't set goals that may be hard to reach. In addition to growth that happens consistently, you need to know how to retain what you grow to see length. Retention is one of the things most of us struggle with mastering so it may take a while to nail the regimen that does that for you. So focus on improving your hair as best as you can, and everything else will fall in line.

Before limiting yourself to any set date of reaching your hair goals, here are some questions to consider:

1. Do you know how much your hair grows per month?

2. Have you established a hair-care routine that affords you to retain all (or most) of the lengths you grow per month?

3. Do you know how many inches you are away from your goal length?

Knowing the answers to these questions will help you to know for sure whether or not you can make it to APL by December. Happy growing :).

Welcome! I wouldn't give the hair growth a defined time frame but you can definitely make apl or beyond, it just takes time, patience and finding the right products through trial and hopefully not error :)

good hair handling practices etc.

Welcome noobie :) What is your regimen? What products do you use and how do you use them? Don't be too quick to jump unto bandwagons, you might be setting yourself up for a huge disappointment. Like Nonie said, learn more about your hair and enjoy it before setting those goals.

Once you have a regimen that works for you then you can think about join challenges and setting goals. HTH

Good luck

The bolded is so true -- I have been setting growth goals for the past year that I have been here and have yet to make any of them! (OK, I made one, but I had to change it so many times!) However, my hair is super healthy and beautiful, and I think that is all we can ask for.

My second bit of advice (wish I had followed it) -- give yourself 4-6 months of following a set and SIMPLE routine before you start using growth aids (I already see MN and MTG in your post, so I am assuming you are interested in a growth aid). That way, you can repair what you have, learn how fast your hair grows without all the extras, and most importantly learn what you need to do to retain your growth. What is your regimen, by the way?

We may not be giving you the advice you want, but this is the advice I wish someone had given me a year ago. HHG!

Porosity Control is not a deep conditioner - so you need to find a deep conditioner that works for you.

What regime have you set for yourself so far? What products?
