The relaxer is no more complicated than any other relaxer that you mix.
1. Mix the inductor (activator) with the cream.
2. Base your scalp with the enclosed product or any vaseline/grease/stuff of your choosing.
3. Apply the relaxer in the same way you would apply any other. Smooth like you would any other.
4. Rinse, rinse, rinse, rinse, rinse.

Beyond that point, you're no longer following the instructions on the package. You can do your protein step, your ACV rinse, neutralizing shampoo, and DC. I personally detest the enclosed Milky Reconstructor, so I just pretend it isn't in the box. :lachen:

Ok, cool. That's pretty easy. I guess I got caught up in all the extra steps, outside of the instructions included in the box. Also, I wasn't sure if I needed the I or II. I tried Soft and Beautiful Botanicals with my last touch up and was way underprocessed. I normally use Dark & Lovely Regular.

Do you Phytorelaxer girls use index 1 or index 2?

I used index 1 and dare I say my hair is too silky and straight. I'm afraid it won't hold a curl if ever I choose to wear a rollerset curly. I thinking of doing index 2 next time. If I do that though I'll have to transition to whatever texture my hair comes out to. I've always like my hair slightly frizzy--I like the extra texture because I have fine hair.

^^ I use Index II for resistant/coarse hair.

I believe that if you use Index II, it will make your hair straighter and I am not sure if this is what you want.

Surprise! I use Index I also. Hee hee.:spinning:
PLENTY of texture. I used Index 2 one time -- and returned it. It was WAY too straight for what I was seeking to do. Apparently, that is the consensus around the table too - from personal convos w/ my phyto friends to reading experiences here. So maybe try giving it a little more time.

I am realizing that as more of my hair is "Phyto-laxed" I need to maybe change up the spritz for my rollerset? I am honestly still working on that balance. But I get the bounciest finish still when I use water and roll w/ good tension.

I am sure that you will find in time that roller setting is still an option on the table for you, regardless of the final Index you decide on. If naturals can do it, why can't fee-toe girls?? :yep:

*sigh* I may end up switching to Index I... tomorrow I'm going to Mall of America and clean out Bath and Body Works of all their Phyto products :lachen: sooooooooo I might as well wander to Sephora and buy the Index I.... if anyone knows a reason this should not take place, speak now or forever hold your peace!!!

You have my support.
MAY THE PHYTO SET YOU FREE! :clapping:

Soulie,

Nooooo, don't do it! (jk)

I decided not to do the Index 1 'cause Index 2 is working for me and I wasn't sure if I could put all of my goodies in Index 1 and not be way under processed.

Now that I just relaxed my hair about 3 hours ago, I am so glad that I did not switch. My hair sooo THICK!

I will be posting pics in about an hour.

Let us know what you decide.

I am sooo sorry about this post. I meant to say that i used index 2--not 1
Sorry. I must have gone temporarily insane or something. i used index 2 and my hair was toooooo straight.

Rollersetting is the only way that I will go straight. It is so much healthier for my hair. I'm really anxious to just find THE PERFECT RELAXER already. I've narrowed down the brand. Now I just need to figure out what I want my hair to be like on a daily basis when it's air dried. I air dry all the time. I rarely style my hair because i'm a bunner. Do I want bone straight air dryed hair or quasi texlaxed/semilaxed airdryed hair? I'm also thinking about how straight my hair will be when I straighten it? If I'm bonelaxed then my straightened hair will be too thin and wimpy.

nope. no relaxers at B&B Works. They also do not sell it on the website either so I don't think they'll be having it in stores either.

SHOPPING TIP TO ALL:

B&B Works gets new products on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. By 3pm all new merchandise is on the sales floor. Soooo, you should be checking your local store frequently if you are looking for specific products. You can also call ahead and have them set aside something for you if they do indeed have it.

I've already got the phone number to the two B&B Works closest to me. I told them to keep and eye out for certain things for me. LoL.

Hmm..IMHO, better to have texture. You can always go eitehr way, and its quicker to straighten textured hair (even airdrying w/ scarf) than to texturize straight hair.

Also, I think texturized hair looks thicker when straightened, and the ends are a bit stronger for the long haul. Imagine a bone straigh strad on your head now. How will it look in 6 years? 10?

How do you think a "texturized" strand would compare?

If you used #2, I think you can safely try #1 after this box. When I first relaxed, I used #2. It actually helped me transition well from the Affirm, because my hair gradually got thicker (thinnest at the bottom w/ Affirm, then traight w/ Index 2, then semi-straight with index 1.

Yes, ma'am. Are you in Jersey as well? You are turning out to be quite the kindred spirit.

Point well taken. I'm scared of the transition. IDK why. I did well with my 12 month stretch, but 3 different textures is potentially unnerving/awkward.

Also, have you tried, phytopolliene, huile de ales, or phytocayne. I'm thinking of getting one of these, but only if they help with the growth or softening of my hair. I'm most interested in the bolded. I'm Optimum Care relaxed ends need help.

No, worries! :) No, not in Jersey, I am a little bit further south. There are a few places there that feel like home though. I have a "mom" there very close to my heart. :yep:

Out of the 3 products you mentioned, I have only used Phytocyane, so sorry no feedback on the others. And I used it as a scalp treatment for nourishment more than targeted growth. So its hard to say whether it helped my hair grow faster, because I was popping Phytophanere pills like there was no tomorrow. And those definitely work.

However, healthy scalp = healthy hair growth, which is why I never minded using this. I do think that my scalp responds well to this treatment, but I don't feel dependent upon it for growth.

Here is some info about Phytocyane since we're in the PHyto Lovers thread:

F
or Women with Thinning Hair with Grapeseed Procyanidins and Ginkgo Biloba Antiageeing Treatment

PHYTOCANE was designed to solve the problem of hair deficiencies in women. It is composed of:

a complex of sulphured amino acids, a sulphured marine polyoside and Tea extract, which work on the scalp to provide it with the essential elements needed.
Viburnum and Ginkgo Biloba have toning effects that improve thickness and tone the hair fiber.
Group B Vitamins strengthen hair to give more volume.
PHYTOCANE, enriched with Grapeseed Procyandins (Procyanidolic oligomers), protects and maintains the hair's natural balance.

PHYTOCANE contains a Tyrosin derivative, which tones and protects hair. PHYTOCANE improves thickness and tones the hair, making it fuller and lustrous.

Thinning Hair - The hair growth cycle is composed of 3 different phases:

In women the hair growth phase (or "anagene") lasts an average of 5 years, which affects 8.5% of the hair mass.
Resting (or "catagene") phase which is when the hair stops growing, lasts an average of 3 weeks. This phase affects 1 to 2% of the hair mass.
Rejecting (or "telogene") phase is when a hair falls out, pushed by a new one growing in. This phases lasts about 3 months, affecting 10 to 20% of the hair mass.
This natural cycle can be affected by elements such as:

Life style (stress, pollution, diets, nutritional deficiencies, etc.)
Hormonal changes (after pregnancy and menopause)
"Biological Clocks" (seasonal changes, and the natural aging process)
Poorly done hair treatments and the use of harsh hair products
Women suffer from thinning hair as a result of these 4 factors.

Thanks for that info. I'm going to be so phytoed out it won't even be funny. I'm looking into getting one of the phyto oils or Boundless tresses.

That's it! I can't take it!

....pulls out credit card to go buy some phytophanere vitamins.

I tried! I really, really tried! :wallbash:

Thanks Lovie :look:

Before you order, consider the Cap'Energy vitamins; they are formulated for AA/textured hair growers.

huilles d'ales is not a growth product per se, it is castor and essential oils which can aid in growth, but it is a super moisturizing pre-poo treatment. I really like it and think it smells wonderful - rather sage-y.

Phytospecific Vital Force Product Review:

Vital Force Shampoo:

Cleansing & Lather:

Rating:4

Obsevation: A total lack of slip! This shampoo does not lather like traditional shampoos. I do not believe that it is supposed to though. With that said. It does have incredible ingredients. However, it does have a sulfate and these awesome ingredients appear to do nothing for my hair.

Duration of trial: 2 weeks.

Effect on my hair: Umm.... This did not do anything for my hair. In fact, I would venture to say that it actually dried my hair out and cause damage in the second week. I followed the directions: "Lathered" once then "lathered" and let it rest on my hair for 2 minutes. There was no slip at all. I was not wishing for CON green shampoo kind of slip (that conditioner type of slip), just regular slip and it did not deliver. I depend on slip for detangling purposes.

Vital Force Creme Bath:

Rating: 7

Observation: It was interesting. Kind of sticky/gummy. I really don't think my hair likes heavy conditioners. Shea butter is not kind or conditioning to my fine 4b strands. Shea butter is a key ingredient in this masque.

Duration of trial: 2 weeks.

Effect on my hair: I tried it for 5-10 minutes each use. This may also be what contributed to my breakage this week. In my opinion it did not penetrate my strands. It merely coated them. My hair felt a bit dry after rinsing this. So I followed up with my trusty Kenra MC.

What I learned about my hair: Since using Phyto I've learned A LOT about what my hair likes and dislikes. It does not like Phytospecific anything!!!! Well, the styling balm is good for laying down my 9-12 week edges. But other than that I find that the products on that line are too heavy and harsh. My delicate 4b strands can't take that mess! I'm sticking with plain Phyto. Phytojoba and Kenra MC are softening my strands just fine, and I will stick with my trusty Joico for protein.

Great review, thanks!

Only thing is - did you use ONLY this product for two weeks? Vital Force is pretty protein heavy...I think it is targeted as a restructuring treatment. I only use the shampoo and vital force conditioner usually 1-3 times a month.

Also, with VF conditioner application, you must rub together to a creamy base in your hands, then concentrate on length. It is best to use this as DC for at least 15 minutes. If you have heat or steam, it my cuticle shaft to lift and the ingredients really get in there, even when in the shower. Oh, and usually I like to apply DCs on semi-dry/dry hair for deeper penetration, but my hair really likes it when I apply it on wet hair.

Just food for thought in case you have 10 vials of Phytospecific sitting there... though I know Taz is willing to take them off your hands... = )

The Phyto USA hair website does a good job of seperating products by product line, and explaining what it targets.

http://www.phyto-usa.com

There are a few exceptions to my snapshot list below (e.g., the blue line has a few different shades that target frizz, normal hair, and a few special conditions)..

But I go by the generalzation below as a pretty good reference that has served me well as the line has become more popular.

(PHYTOSPECIFIIC) WHITE BOXES
Targeted for curly & textured hair -
Product examples: Vital Force, Intense Nutrition, Optimal Hydration, Beauty Styling Creme, Oil Sheen, etc.

YELLOW / DK YELLOW
Moisturizing Products for Dry Hair
Product examples: Phytojoba, Phytosesame, Phyto 7, Phyto 9, Huile de Ales, etc.

ORANGE -
Color/Chemically Treated Hair
Product examples: Phytocitrus, Phytomist

BLUE -
ALL Hair Types: Includes styling aids, helps maintain hair already healthy
Product examples: Phytobaume, Phytodefrisiant, Phytolisse

RED -
Targeted for hair growth/revitalization/anti-aging (all does the same, promotes growth & hair loss prevention)
Product examples: Phytophanere Vitamins, Phytocyane, Phytoaxil, Phytodensium)

Phyto PRO Line
Styling Gels, Molds, Etc.
Product Examples: Phytopro Ultra Style Creme, Ultra Gloss Wax, Wet Gel, Etc.

I have 8 of the Vital Force Shampoos from B&BW if anyone is intersted. I also picked up a few bottles of the Phytocyane Shampoo and a bunch of the Phytocyance Lotions which come in separate vials which is applied directly to your scalp. I kinda went crazy in the store because the deals were so amazing, and it's hard to find on sale, but the stuff lasts so long I don't need all of it.

I did not know that it was a heavy protein treatment. But I did rub it together to make it creamy white and spreadable. No dice either way. Although I'm very into my hair, I don't dc with heat. Sometimes I do the homemade steam treatment if my hair is feeling particularly yucky.

I've got to say that I'm liking salon products better than department store products right now because they are so much lighter. My hair is a fan of the yellow phyto line. aka products for dry hair. phytokarite is what put my hair into protein overload all those weeks back. Never again I say!!

Nah, I've got just the one tube of vital force shampoo. everything else I had was samples. I've gotta tell you. The samples last forever because they're sooooo concentrated. Anyone buying phyto will definately get their money's worth.
