I'm trying to stretch my next relaxer til Aug. My last relaxer was beginning of April., so I'm about 8 weeks post now. My ng growth is hurting my head. I can bearly get a comb thru it, so I've been co-washing almost daily to manage.

Please help. How do you ladies cope with long stretches? Is it common for you new growth to cause discomfort on your scalp?

Yes it is Uncomfortable and to add Insult to Injury another thing is: You can't stop touching it.:look:

Little to No Manipulation Helped me during my 14 week stretch and to keep extremely moisturized especially on the NG and the Line of Demarcation. :yep:

Co-Washing is also very good. And alot of Deep Conditioning Treatments also help tremendously.

Daily cowashing, followed by buns, and just leaving it alone until the next day's cowash.

Scalp massages help too. Try massaging your scalp with a light oil. It helps with blood circulation. Also, check your scalp for build-up. Co-washing can sometimes leave build-up and for me that can cause scalp soreness as well.

ITA with the first two posters regarding cowashing...I LOVVVE IT....

That said...

It could be your NG doesn't like too much manipulation and wants you to just leave it alone. Try cutting down some on the cowashing and see if that helps your sensitivity any...

You are so right about "can't stop touching it"...My hands are in my hair constantly, and I don't even enjoy it because my ng feels like steel wool.

hmm what kind of hair do you have, because no or low manipulation for me means many many tangles and lots of shedding...

I hair fine hair, thin strands and the ng on my crown just wants to matte up. It's like I have a mini afro under the relaxed hair.

Hi there! I had the exact same issue when I was stretching for 7 months---To me it sounds like your new growth is dry even after you co-wash? If so I would definatley incorporate a leave-in moisturizer. I hope Traycee won't mind but her blog really helped me when my new growth was out of control.

Hope this helps. :)

OMG, I'm almost 11 weeks post, and my scalp is sore too. I washed and DC'd yesterday, but my NG is still super dry. I just spritzed my hair with a rosewater, aloe vera juice and glycerin mixture. I sure hope it works. I also added some peppermint to help with the irritation. Now that I think about it, I should have added some lavendar too.
