Braidouts are a beautiful thing.

I love braid outs... they're really simple and more practice makes them perfect. I've been wearing them regularly...

Beautiful braid out, you gave me motivation to keep trying. My hair is fine so it won't look a full as your but I'll keep trying.

Keep trying, you have to :-)

I have fine strands but over the past year and a half, my hair has slowly been appearing thicker... I don't know if it's cos I don't use heat as much, don't comb it as often (NOT with a fine tooth comb only when rollersetting), deep condition 2ce a week and started cowashing earlier this year... Something's working cos I have always said my hair isn't thick but now people tell me it is.
I think the key for the braidouts is fluffing/finger shaking (lol, can't describe it) at the roots because when I take the braids out initially, it looks scanty and so not thick until I am done styling it.

Good luck and HTH :-)

Lovely braidout How do you keep your curls froms falling? I do braid outs but the waves fall too easily after four hours my hair is straight again :(

Very Nice! But I have given up on braid outs...I've tried to do them several times with no success.:nono:

Its a shame too...I think they are a great style.

I LOVE braidouts! People are always complimenting my hair when I have a braid out. Also, it makes the morning so much easier when all I have to do is unbraid!!

Good cornrow skills too! Mine def don't look that nice!

Spongie Bloom, try Garneir Fructis Wonder Waves- Wave Enhancing spray. I spray a bit on my sections prior to braiding and sometimes the next morning. It helps my hair hold the definition and doesn't weigh my hair down. Plus, it smells yummy!:lick:

Ive been using bioinfusion for my moisturizer when rebraiding at night for my braidouts but my hair would be dry by the next evening. So, I finally broke down and bought NTM silk touch leave-in that sylver2 loves so much and I think I LOVE IT JUST AS MUCH!! I used it last night and sealed with organix coconut milk serum and my hair felt so soft this morning and still is right now! My hair is shiny and not dry at all!

Your hair turned out gorgeous! Such a great job lady! I'm definitely going to have to learn to cornrow. My twist outs turn out similar. Thanks for sharing this!

Awww... try again! Did you try them in a similar way as I do? Not neccessarily same products... but same process...?

Hmmm.... Right now I use Lustrasilk shea butter as my styling aid (i.e. apply to each section before braiding) but before I tried Lustrasilk, I used my moisturiser on each section and I've always left the braids in overnight. Maybe you don't leave the braids in for long enough? The one time I left the braids in for only 2-3 hours, before taking them out, the result is my avatar... what happened was - it looked nice for a couple of hours then started to take on a life of its own so I pinned it up. You can see it's not as wavy as my braidout in this thread.

Thank you :-)
Because it's not too much work, I spray my hair with my moisturising spritz (homemade) and rebraid each section at night - takes me about 5-7 minutes. I hate how my hair looks when I sleep on a braidout (without rebraiding), no matter how much I fluff it, it's not as nice.

Very beautiful!:yep:

How often do you have to rebraid?

Thanks buddy :-)
I want to try twistouts... Let me know about your cornrow progress :-)

Thanks so much :-)
3a? Did you mean 4a? I'm clueless on hairtyping but a few ladies have said I'm a 4a...
You're the 1st one who's said 3a.
I am loving my new growth and can't wait for at least a year so I can BC.
lovely! omg just sooo lovely! i need to learn how to cornrow. It looks as if you have natural 3a curls going on.

Great job!

Thanks... It's trial and error, I think I took about 5 pictures - zoomed in and snapped away. Loaded onto my laptop, zoomed into the image and grabbed the section of the image I liked and saved :-)
Thanks :-)
It's a close up of one of her hair coils. Idk how she got that close to her roots, but in her fotki she shows her roots and coils. It's pretty cool actually.

Yay, all your replies made me smile :-)

Thanks so much ladies... if anyone has questions, ask in this thread or PM me.

I really really want to get on the twist out/ braid out wagon....but they always come out looking like a H.A.M

I may have to go and pick this spray up though. Hopefully it will do the trick....my issue is that every product I've tried to use leaves my hair damp (even after I get under the dryer).:wallbash:

Maybe this will give me some hold and shine w/o being too much.

Do you use this spray while your hair is still wet, or do you just spray this on dry hair?

Thanks*
