Age and Natural Hair

I've been natural twice in my life, once in my late 20s and second time around now, in my early 40s. The first time, my hair grew like weed... now I can't believe how long it's taking my natural hair to grow, despite the vits! Anyone experiencing this?

Yes, but MT and OCT has been a blessing, let me tell you. Some don't believe it works, but it does

ETA: Also, Ayureveda has been an added treasure in the growth of my hair.

My hair is pretty thick and has been shoulder-length for a few years, no greys but for a culprit here and there.. I've accepted my SL, because I'm not a PJ and I try to not ingest too many different types pills for the sake of hair growth. My regimen, if you call it that, is simple. I wash once a month and braid my hair every other day using LOC method with coconut oil, purified water and either Shea Moisture Smoothie or Dr Miracle's Anti Breakage creme. I take Nature's Bounty vits daily.
My main concern now is healthy, moisturized hair, not necessarily length... I love the sheen and texture of my hair today... coconut oil does wonders for sheen
That's my story and I'm sticking to it... lol

Yes and it sucks donkey balls. I've been taking Hair LaVie after my Manetabolism ran out an it looks like I'm getting maybe a .5 per month. What the heck would it be without the vits?! If I knew it was going to be like this I never would have cut my hair to SL from MBL-WL last December I figured I would be approaching BSL by now but I'll be lucky to be full APL by Xmas.

Age definitely plays a role...when I got married the first time at 22 I cut my hair from MBL to a very short angled bob with the back tapered. I did the cut in August and by February of the next year I was full CBL, by the next August I was pretty much back to BSL. I went natural in 2008 and while I didn't BC I got a pretty healthy trim/cut from broken BSL to CBL, I was in my 30's and it took about a year for me to get back to BSL. Now in my 40's it's taking a long time to get to WL. The supplements I'm taking are definitely making a difference and the Hair La Vie vitamins have definitely given me a boost. It will be a year in November since I started taking them and I think I will retain an additional 3-4 inches because of them.

Even though age might have something to do with growth, I really believe it seems that way because we are watching it more closely. When I cut off my relaxer in 1990s, my hair grew back but I didn't pay any attention to it, so if it grew fast or slow I didn't notice. Now that I am on a mission, I'm noticing that it seems to be growing slower. However, what I do is use Henna, so whenever I see grey hairs then I know my hair is growing.

20s and 30s my hair grew like weeds. I'm in my mid-40s and there definitely is a difference! It's not as thick as it used to be and it now only grows to SL.
I no longer wear my hair out I prefer to keep it pinned up in twists or buns.

I am having no trouble growing my natural hair. I just get so bored with it. I am currently at shoulder level, but I got heat damaged when I went to a stylist in July. I don't want to BC again, so close to winter. I am considering becoming a straight hair natural, but I currently can't get my hair to cooperate! I will be looking into roller sets or blow drying during the winter.

Right now, my hair is in the best condition it has ever been in since the curl days. My current battles are shedding (menopause sucks) and the silvers creeping in along my edges (4 so far). Weapons of choice: supplements and rinses.

I fear cutting my hair even a small trim because I know it will take a year or more to grow back.
