Never will I ever again shop at the ULTA in Virginia Beach! I have never ever in my life felt sooo disrespected and discriminated against in my life:nono:!

Ok so all week I have been soooo excited about trying the new Mizani Moisturefusion and from what I have seen the only place that carries it is ULTA in this area. So I hunt down the nearest ulta and it comes up Va beach. I was talking to a coworker about being excited to go there because I have never been to that one. Im from Northern VA and the one up there is amazing! But she then was like oh that one is around the cornor from my house and I never go, I dont like it. When I asked why she was like you'll see when you get ther:perplexed. I thought whatever is cant be that bad, the one at home is great!

Ok so today I drive to the beach about 15 miles away from my home and go to ulta. I walked in and the lady that is suppose to working the front is fixing some baskets, she looks at me and does not speak a word! At first I think nothing of it and pass it off as she was just busy and didnt see me. So as I walk around the store she I notice that she is asking everyone else if they needed help and if there was anything she can do for them! I think to myself, good she will get to me next because I cant find what im looking for. Then I dont hear her anymore:ohwell: hmmmmm I look up.... and shes back at the front counter doing NOTHING! I begin to get a little pissy but I say to myself " Moe this is not what your here for, just get what you came for!" I finally find the flat iron I wanted (CHI) ad locate the Mizani. I walk past another rep that looked me dead in my face and did not speak nor ask if I needed help! :wallbash: I ignore it and then get my stuff. So I look down in my basket and notice that I have damn there $150-175 worth of stuff in my basket. I walk to the front by BOTH reps and still they do not SPEAK! mind you there are maybe 3-4 people in the store this whole time so its not like the were busy! I go to the counter and..... I wait! maybe for about 2-3 mins! I then say to myself " OH HELL NO!" There is no way that I am gonna give these people my money! apperantly they are doing well enough that they just dont want/ need it! I was soo upset that as soon as I got home I emailed their corporate office! As yall already figured, I was the only black person in the store, oh and n the shopping center! :lachen: The parking lot was full of expensvie cars and they I was in my old Pathfinder:lachen::lachen: I didnt care because they way I saw it I worked hard for my money just like these people and its green just like theirs! At least I know now if I need to go to ulta Im gonna have to drive the 3 1/2 hours to my mothers house abd shop at that one because the one in VA beach will never get my money! :nono:

Oh sorry sooo long I had to get it off my chest!

Aw, I have gone through crap like that before, but never at an Ulta. You should have spoken up and asked for their corporate headquarter information or to speak to the maganer. If they pretended to ignore your presence and you just stood there until you left silently, then they didn't learn their lesson. Next time, speak up and make the manager crawl out of his office and address you him or herself. Shoot, you even will get a discount. My mom and I have done this when sleighted at stores and it always works. You don't even have to get loud about it, just state that you have yet to be helped and you need this situation rectified. Sound intelligent, yet busy. The manager knows that green is the only color that matters, so you'll end up on top if you complain.

Regardless, you can go their website and send a formal complaint. Also, purchase that expensive stuff online through another vendor. :)

That is TERRIBLE!I think someone else made a thread like this not too long ago.

I happy you wrote to them.Let us know what the response is.I'm sure they won't be happy that the workers are running off buisness.

I live in Virginia Beach also. But I've never been to the ULTA sounds like you were in Hilltop lol I have heard people complain about alot of the ULTA stores and that's why alot of them just shop online. Sorry about your experience hun!! Hugs

Thank you Next time if im in the situation again I will speak up! But I know for a fact it will not be at that ulta! I really hope they get back to me, if not I will def write them weekly until they do! I will not be ignored by that company again!

Girl, I don't blame you ! :look: And As much as Black Women Spend on Hair Care in this Nation! What did that expose say: We account for an 80% spend Nationally of Hair Care Products???:ohwell:

The Devil is a Liar ! :evilbanana: They would not have gotten One Dime out of me. And I woulda Switched Right on Up out of there With my Money in my Purse and Drove Right on Out in My Pathfinder!

I don't spend my money in places like that. No Matter How Bad I want the Item ! You did the Right thing. I'm glad you called the Corporate Office. And we need to do that More.

Sorry that happened to you! Some people can be such &%%*! I live in NYC and I've never experienced anything like that (even when I went to the ultra rich Hamptons)! You're right, I wouldn't give them my money either. I would get it online instead - you save time and money! :yup:

I from VA Beach but don't ever recall shopping at an Ulta.

Although you emailed, I would also fire off a letter. You will likely get a discount. Be sure to mention that you will alert all of your friends and family about how you were treated and suggest that they all boycott all Ulta stores.

I hate when staff members do such silly things....as if your money was not just as green as the other customers. Idiots!!

Why wasn't your "friend" just honest with you in the first place. If they showed predjudice to her....then it stands to reason they would show it to you as well. A "friend" would have simply saved you the trouble.:perplexed But I am still glad you contacted headquarters. Maybe if & when enough of us complain, they may shut down all the ULTA stores for a one-day SENSITIVITY TRAINING for all employees!!:wallbash:

 So glad you didn't give them YOUR money. I don't play that.

This is a regular occurrence at places like Ulta. When I worked in cosmetics retail, I worked at a small boutique and we were always hungry for customers. Losing out on any type of money was a HUGE loss, and not worth the risk. Everyone got superb service because of this, plus you never know when someone is a secret shopper. I'm sorry you went through this.

Exactly!!! My company uses secret shoppers and bonuses are based on the secret shopper results!! Ulta needs to get some diversity training done ASAP.

 So glad you didn't give them YOUR money. I don't play that.

Thats what I dont understand! I use to work For L'Occitane and I treated people like gold because we were constantly be secret shopped! and you never know by looking at a person what they were capable of buying! I could have been one of their biggest sales of they day s treated right

Child please...I shop online always a pleasure & green is respected no attitude. Not in this economy & there are ways to get around shipping. You definitely did an excellent job leaving those items there. F Ulta..I'd boycott the entire chain.

Trust me Im thinking about it

Wow, that is crazy. I have only had pleasant experiences at Ulta so far. I am glad you sent the e-mail to corporate, but I would not boycott all Ulta's because of the ignorance of one store. If you boycott a chain everytime you ran into one group of ignorant employess you could potentially eliminate a lot of stores.

Has anyone thought of calling a local news staton in that area? This is just another reason why we should have our BLACK OWNED BEAUTY SUPPLY STORES.

Monique, file a complaint at the top. Tell them how you felt and how you were treated, name the store and the employees at that branch. I know in these economic times those beyotches need their jobs and your complaint may make a huge difference in their stanky attitudes..be PROACTIVE!!!!!!![

EDITED TO ADD: I saw you have made a complaint...good for you twist them outta those stupid attitudes!!!!!!!/COLOR]

I hate ulta. I have always heard of them and when I finally found one here in Silver Spring MD I was sooooo excited! It was valentines day and my hubby and I were walking thru the plaza after dinner and I was drooling over the store because I didn't know there was one that close. Well, Hubby was feeling good that night and gave me a crisp $100 bill and told me to go on in and make myself happy. I ran up to the door and the white saleswoman pulled on the door from the inside and told me that I couldn't come in because the store was closing in 15 minutes!

I said, so I can get what I want in 15 minutes. This ***** said it's store policy that they don't let people in for the last 15 minutes. I ain't never heard no crap like that before. MIND YOU there were about 4 other white customers in there shopping! Not even at the checkout counter! I was soooo pissed! I hate them and will never go there again. I won't even order from them online!

Oh wow! now she know she was wrong! being a member of LHFC you are able to scan a store and find what you need in 10 mins tops! :lachen:

Wow! I've never heard of them before, but thanks for the tip. I won't go to any of them. They obviously need to be careful in who they hire and I'd rather shop from a company that knows how to train their people.

I've heard too many complaints about Ulta. I've been in the store and they weren't very warm and cozy with me, either. I'm in Houston. This sounds systemic.

I've never been in their stores, never seen their stores in Los Angeles, and never heard of them until recently--on this forum. Thanks for the "heads up." I won't be buying anything from the stores or from their website.:nono:
