Healthier option to Soft-fro or S-Curls?

I was thinking water mixed with glycerin. I wonder if it is the glycerin that makes the hair soft and touchable.

Rosewater and glycerin (3:1). I use this once or twice a week in my hair, and it's unbelievably moisturized and soft.
