Are any of you a member of this social network? http://healthyhair.ning.com/

Whether you are or not, I wanted to let you know that this site displays pictures that are not property of the owner and could be pictures of you. I was alerted by a member here that a picture of mine was on the site. I end up finding two of my pictures there. The pics were uploaded by a user for the Charlie Trendi salon.

I've asked the site owner to remove my pictures and she consulted with the owner of this salon who stated that the pictures are of his clients. Well, of course, I know for a fact that he is lying. I gave her proof that they are my pictures, yet she still has not removed them.

I wanted to tell you all this for two reasons:

#1: Check this site to make sure that none of your pictures are appearing without your permission.
#2: Watermark your pictures in the future - I plan to do this myself.

They have yet to remove my photos but I won't back down until they do.

Re: Online Pictures

Are you kidding me! Wow, it would be thrilling if you could contact the "salon owner" who put your picture on that site. The picture is clearly your picture. Some people are so damn unscrupulous!

I could not figure out how to contact the salon owner via the social network but I did find the salon's website address and I just sent an email there.

Re: Online Pictures

I'm sorry this has happened to you. I think it's really sad when people resort to stealing hair pictures.

Re: Online Pictures

WOW! I would be so mad!! You want me to complain too!!?? I will - I'll do it!! Just say the word.

Re: Online Pictures

There are even folks who steal pics not to necessarily profit in a monetary sense but to get an ego boost from other people praising 'their hair.' It is beyond sad.

Re: Online Pictures

It is to profit. She is selling a product and showing pictures implying that by purchasing her product and using it, the result would be similar to pictures of people on her site. It is disgusting.

I am so sick and tired of these people who promote a product and the people advertised are in weave or never ever used the product.

Re: Online Pictures

sigh....i hope you get these removed. let me figure out how to watermark my fotki pics....

that is plain ridiculous and trife! SMH.

Re: Online Pictures

Good job adding a comment to both of those photos letting viewers know that your pictures were being used with out your permission. Did you print-screen the page to save as proof? I don't know if it will help but maybe you can file a complaint with the sites' internet service provider. Here's the ip address of the healthyhair.ning site (8.6.19.68) and here's the ip address of the charlietrendi site (74.52.15.66).

Re: Online Pictures

Wow, hairlove, that is awful. I would feel so violated if that happened to me. I wish you success in getting them removed. Were they stolen from this site? your fotki?

I have the "copy protection" enabled in fotki but I am sure a seasoned thief could get around that.:ohwell: For my protection, I usually have a camera in my pics, and when I don't, I used to watermark them but then got lazy about it...not anymore.:nono:

Thanks for the tip.

I did a screen shot of both pages and I'll hold on to those ip addresses.

The site owner had responded to my first email but even though I have checked her online status (she's on), she has still not replied to my 2nd and 3rd email.

Re: Online Pictures

Wow! Even I knew right off the bat that this picture was you!
That's just beyond shady. I checked out the other pictures and didn't recognize anyone else.

They stole the pictures from my web page.

Re: Online Pictures

That really is ridiculous, people are so dishonest. I can't check the site at work but I will when I get home, and best believe from now on I will be watermarking all my pics. I just found this site that watermarks your pics for you.

Yes! There was someone at aim that had ME as her profile pic :wallbash:
I am thankful and lucky that Danigurl18 alerted me.
Makes you wonder how many people are using fake pictures of themselves...

Hairlove, I'm sorry about what happened to you. I really hope they can remove the pic. It's clearly you...how can they not see that :perplexed

Re: Online Pictures

Dang! So sorry they are using you and your hair. I see pics on there that I've pulled out of magazines and they are not the works of THAT salon.

Now I know why Macherieamour has a lawyer. She has everything copyrighted; even her screenname.

Re: Online Pictures

It's even worse when it's a business that is stealing private pictures... :nono:
We should just bomb them with e-mails if they don't remove the pic.
Can you tell I'm getting upset!

Re: Online Pictures

Wow thanks. Thats a shame people lie to get readers or to sell themselves. Stuff like that get exposed sooner or later.

They don't know, do they!?

I've been on this site since 2003, so I know people remember me from transitioning to now!

I'd like to see them provide 5 of pictures of me in the same blue sweater turned a different way. Hmpphh.

Good for her.

I will take some of the blame. It is my fault for being so trusting. That's ok, I've learned my lesson now.

Re: Online Pictures

Wow smdh....:nono: that is just beyond bold! That is disgusting individual to elude folks to believe in a product of hers just to TAKE their money. There should be more you could do. Please keep us informed.
