I don't know who is bumping the older threads but I am glad that they are. These are the threads that I read that made me pay my money and join this site.

These are the threads that people are referring to when they tell the newer members to go back and a do a search.

So THANKS, whoever you are!!!!!

While we're on the subject of bumping older threads: look at the dates, esp. the OP.

I've seen threads wherepeople have responded to someone's setback...that happened five years ago.

AMEN...their hair has grown back, they BC'd, and grew it back again since then!!! :lachen:however, the advice threads are timeless.

Why do the old threads need to be bumped when you could just go back and read them?

Why do the old threads need to be bumped when you could just go back and read them?

There may be a thread that someone who has been here for a long time remembers that has gread advice and answers to a specific question. There could be someone that has that same question who doesn't know about that thread, and it my be deep in a search. Someone could bump that thread so that saod person (and others who have the same questions) can read it.

There could also be a conversation going on where a certain topic comes up that is dealt with expressly in a thread. If a link to the thread is posted, people could post more questions that may be more on topic.

There could also be a specific topic that already has a thread (like the threading technique thread). There's no reason to create anothe rthread for it, especially if it was aonly a few posts long.

The only place where this breaks down is if a thread is more than a few pages long, then it can become more difficult to read and post within.

Now MSA .......you of all people know that folks hate to go back and search.

I do more reading than posting. I know that you respond and often tell people to go back and search and in response the OP often responds "yeah I know I can go back and search but there are just SOOOOOOOO many pages!!!"

I personally don't see the problem with doing a search but I was saying thanks to the "bumper/s" for those that don't like to go back and search.

LOL you know I like to be difficult.

I thought you were referring to random threads being bumped up about random subjects. If you're referring to threads being bumped for questions that are being asked currently, I see exactly what you mean.

Old threads do have a lot of great info, that's why I love reading them.

I've seen random threads get bumped where the person who bumped forgot to look at the dates, so then you get a bunch of people enouraging a user that was upset because her family doesn't like that she BC'd, but it was from more than a year ago. That's the part I don't like about bumping.

I wouldn't say difficult LOL just straight no chaser.

I was referring to the ones with the really good info like the MSM Roll Call, AJamericanDiva's Braiding Tips, and a few others that have been popping up lately.

When they've hit the front page, I've been like... that post is not new, but let me see, and sure enough it's the answer to a new question from an old member.

Don't forget to check the favorite stickies sticky, there are several important threads in there.

you're right. I stay in the stickies. Reminding myself of the great information this board has to offer.

My brain can't hold it all.
