There was a big craze a while back concerning this concoction. People claim that it softened new growth--even straightened it. I was wondering how many of you still use this as a way to manage new growth or on natural hair for softening? And do you add oil to your mix?

I'm pre-treating right now with it! :D It still works for me and my newgrowht is like 4z THICK when it's dry. I like it b/c it makes it really soft and really loosens the curl. I can't say that it totally straightened my hair thought. And it smells good...to me at least:look:

I tried the treatment last month, I used coconut milk mixed w/ some deep conditioner no lime juice added. It makes my hair sooo soft and shiny, and it also loosens up my curl pattern a bit. Its a definitely a keeper in my regimen. :)

Thanks for replying.

Yeah, Nita, it can be messy. I learned to let it settle at least for an hour beforehand and then skim the cream off the top--still messy, but not AS messy.

Anyone else getting great results?

Oh ok I did use my mix right after I put it together. It leaked out of my cap and all over.

I did a treatment last night and .....WHOA !

This time it worked fabulously. My hair is sooo soft, even the new growth. And my braidout looks wonderful.

Two days beforehand, I mixed the can of coconut milk with the juice of one tiny lime and about three tablespoons of EVOO. I put a cover over it and refrigerated.

When I was ready to apply it, I made sure I had my processing cap, towel, and beauty coil (cotton ball strip that you get at Sallys--this is VER
Y IMPORTANT because as Nita said, this stuff drips like mad) close at hand.

I applied the thick but very cold (brrrr) cream ( if I warmed it, it would have been very runny from the get-go so this made it easier to apply) OVER THE SINK. I applied it to my roots in sections, and then to the lenghth.

Next I quickly wrapped a long strip of the beauty coil around my edges to catch the drips and put the cap on. Then I wrapped to towel over the whole thing.

This was left on for about an hour and a half. After, I slipped in the shower, rinsed it well. I noticed my legnth was a bit tangly. But I didn't panic, I just applied a mixture of Redken Smooth Down buttercream and Griet Ol 12 en 1 conditioner to my hair and massaged it through like a CO Wash. I made sure to rinse REALLY well, so as not to have any cocnut milk remain in the hair.

I noticed that my hair was soft, and my roots were very curly, BUT they layed down VERy EASILY when I smoothed them. :) So while this didn't straighten my hair like a relaxer it softened it so that I can brush it straight.

I will def try this again. I am seriously considering transitioning, so this is good news indeed. I hear the treatment is more effective the more you do it. And wow, it's so cheap !!

I'm recently started using my concoction again on a regular basis. I don't know why I ever stopped. My hair soo loves it!:D

I really loved the Coconut Milk Lime Treatment prior to Henna/Indigo. It made my NG Soft and my Hair felt Soft, Strong and Shiny. I was afraid to add the Lime, after Henna/Indigo because I didn't want it to take Color away from the H/I.

Thanks Poster. I will try it with Conditioner. I also switched over to the Coconut Cream because of the runny mess with the Milk. The Cream worked very nice because it was alot Thicker. However, mixing with Conditioner, now I can use the rest of the cans of the Coconut Milk I had purchased. Good Idea. Thanks.

I have done this. I liked it pretty good. I only did it once and I wash n go daily so can't really tell any diff.

BUT most recently I used Karishma brand henna, and THAT loosened my curl pattern ALOT. ALOTTTT. Like, I'm like WTH!? Not in a bad way but it is much looser. And that was only after one Karishma session.

I love the coco-lime treatment and I pair it with the home-steam treatment which works wonders on my hair! It makes my twist outs look so fabulously defined! I'm going on 1yr4mons since BC and this had made my journey a lot more manageable!

FYI: I'm not sure if anyone else experienced the long wait time for the concotion to set. Instead of waiting 2-4hrs, I use a "ice bath" to cool the product in 15mins.

Place product in stainless steel bowl
Fill a much larger bowl 1/2 way with water and plenty of ice cubes
Place steel bowl inside larger bowl and Whisk briskly for 10mins or until thickens/cools.
-- I hope this is helpful! Send me a message if you have questions or want the recipe for coco-treatment & home-steam treatment!

^^^^I'm transitioning to a very light texlaxed, so I'm looking for natural hair treatments to help me in dealing with all these different textures. Could you pm me with the recipe? Also, have you tried yogurt? I've heard good things about it, but be careful if you've grown attached to your curl; it might loosen it. :/

Well not the coconut one, but I do have some of the regular milk and lime waiting for me to apply. I'm going to see how that does first before trying the coconut treatment.
