I know there are many people transitioning and I don't know if this has been asked. So last week I did a cheat set and as I undid the sections I flat ironed the roots. I turned out great. I just think I will cowash less often and try this a couple of times a month. Okay to my questions.
Please answer even if you have been natural for a while if it applies to you.
1. How did you straighten (flat iron, rollerset etc.)?
2. How often?
3. Did it cause any damage?
Thanks ladies!

I did via Dominican blowouts, every 3-4 weeks. Surprisingly, I suffered no damage. I wouldn't recommend the blow drying part, but maybe rollersetting and flat ironing the roots or something similar would be the same kind of thing.

The only thing is...the scariest part of transitioning is getting over that fear of going out in public with your natural texture just out there. The last two months of my transition, I wet bunned and did bantu knots to get used to it.

I get my hair straightened by flat iron every 7 to 14 days. It has not caused any damage for me.

i do a rollerset and flatiron my roots now that i'm 2+ months post relaxer. my hair is doing well. i do plan to try kinkys and singles at some point in my transition though.

I did in the beginning for about 4 months... I would wash, blowdry, and flat iron once a week with no damage

I have been transitioning for 8months now and I used hair dryer and flat iron and yes it did cause some damage since I did it without any heat protector product and I used to flat iron after every wash or one to twice a week.

I'd just say be careful with heat, use a heat protector and check the health of your hair all the time, DC weekly after every wash :D
