I think I need to start doing this. No matter how much hair I try to catch, every 1-2 months, the drain WILL get clogged. And it is beyond annoying. Plus my father is more than fed up.

So how many others do this, what is your method, and is it as or more effective?

can you get one of those drain catchers me and my three roomates have long hair and all the shed hair gets caught in the catcher before the drain and all we do is take it out and put the hair in the trash its kind of nasty though

I have started detangling outside the shower also. I get in first wash my hair then get out, add conditoner detangle then get back in and rinse. It takes a little longer but its worth it to me, and i can better see how much hair im losing and if its shed hair or breakage.

I detangle out of the shower.

I have learned the hard way....

I rarely wear my hair out - unless it is straight - so - before pre poos it is not a problem.

I never wash my hair loose.

After DCing... I detangle - then rinse in the shower.

I detangle in the shower - it's so much easirer, but I make sure I keep something around to clear up the drain every several weeks or so. Baking soda and vinegar added to the drain every couple of weeks or so does the job of keeping the drain clear. Otherwise, I'd suggest using a drain hair catcher.

After I bought my house I started detangling out of the shower most of the time. I can't afford to buy drain cleaner every week. My mom used to buy huge packs from BJs. I tried baking soda and vinegar but it doesnt fully unclog for me, the next time I detangle its clogged again. I also use a hair catcher but a good amount of hair gets through so it only helps a tiny bit, I have to find a different one.

Outside the shower takes longer but I pay more attention and lose/break less hair. I just use a spray bottle to simulate water running through my hair.

This is what I have, I dont recommend it.

Detangle on dry hair? before the shower? oh hell to the no. that doesn't work for me.
i detangle only conditioner saturated hair in the shower. Just pull the hair from your comb as you go and toss it instead of letting it go down the drain. or stand w/ one foot on the drain and get the hair before it goes down...

no-no wet hair! i aint crazy yet! lol. like using a spray bottle and conditioner

I was thinking about detangling on dry hair but I think I would end up breaking hairs. Yesterday I detangled in the shower but I had the water turned off. I had condtioner on my hair.

I detangle in the shower, hair is soaking wet but the shower head is not focused directly on my head... each pass I look at the come for strands of hair - if there I remove them... tonight I detangled after cowashing and only got 2 strands ..this works great for me... I pour a cup of clorox every other week down the drain and I have not had a problem.
