I need help!??? Any indigo users out there???

Anyone experienced with Indigo powder? I indigoe'd my hair two weeks ago and it didn't take at all, even after leaving it in for four hours... I mixed it with conditioner and then applied. I am indigoing right now and I just mixed it with water adn applied about three hours ago... How long do I need to leave this stuff on? TIA

I have not used Indigo as yet but I plan to.....did you henna prior to applying the Indigo? Through research I have learned that you must henna prior to applying indigo.

Did you do a Henna treatment first? Indigo needs Hennaed hair to stick to. Also it doesn't like cond. & other products mixed in. Also try mixing n a few teaspoons of seasalt to help it adhere.

I mixed my Indigo w/Hot Water only, stirred it to a yogurt consistency waited like 5 minutes and applied it for about 1 hour over already pre-henna'd hair. Came out a beautiful warm black color. I think you have to apply within 15 minutes of mixing. I didn't add any conditioners or anything to the Indigo mix. Oh yeah, I added about a teaspoon of salt also.

Okay, great! It looks like I'm on track. This time I only used water and I applied it right away. Yes, my hair was henna'd about a week ago, and I did the first indigo treatment right after the henna. This time, I"m just indigoing again... Did I need to henna again? Or everytime I indigo?

No. You did not need to re-henna at this time. From my understanding, the Henna will grow out at the roots. That's when you'll know it is time to re-henna. From my understanding, as long as you have a Henna Stain, you can apply the indigo.

Someone with more experience may want to chime in. HTH

No you don't need to Henna every time , but it does wash out over time. I had also discovered that doing a Henndigo mix first, instead of straight Henna helped me to yeild darker results. Also Indigo takes a few days to reach it's full color/darkness, after it oxidizes. I usually leave mine on for about 3 hours. HTH, let us know how it works out.

Hey girls, thanks so much for your help.... So my color did come out darker this time, although it's still a little tough getting my gray covered completely black.. It's like my hair is blackish but my gray is like dark brownish red.... So hopefully with some oxidation, as you mentioned, my hair will get darker... I do like the results better this time... It was a **** rinsing it out though, adn I still have crumbles of dirt in my hair, but I'm DC-ing.. I figure after a few great rinses tomorrow and a recondition that more of it will come out.. Thanks again for your help!

What really helped me get the 'grit' out of my hair was rinsing it
"4-eva " with VO5 conditioner. I also helped my hair not to be dry. I was afraid of dryness (people people had complained about that), but rinsing with a cheap conditioner eliminated any dryness I may have had.

I have a Ton of Grey and got complete coverage. Next time, use more Indigo/less Henna. That should help, and you shouldn't have the reddish-brown.
