has anyone done this?
with what level of sucess?
did you have to bc first?
did you like your hair texlaxed better than relaxed? and why?

This is what I'm hoping to do, I'm starting at my next relaxer. I'm sure some women on the board have done it without BCing. I hope someone chimes in!

has anyone done this? I am in the process of doing this right now.
with what level of sucess? I am probably 80% texlaxed and 20% relaxed ends. I have been transitioning for 13 months.
did you have to bc first? No, but I had a major trim when I first got started so that made the transition a lot easier.
did you like your hair texlaxed better than relaxed? and why? I love my texlaxed hair b/c it is much thicker. My thin hair looked pathetic when it was bone straight. Now I have thicker hair and more styling options. I can wear textured styles with ease and straighten easily as well.

The one thing I must mention is that make sure you keep you hair moisturized, because at times you will have three textures going on at the same time (natural roots, texlaxed middle and relaxed ends). so there are two lines of demarcation to be mindful of to avoid breakage.

Yes, I have successfully transitioned from relaxed straight to texlaxed. I did not BC; I simply trimmed gradually. I love my telaxed hair because:

- I can spend less time on my hair, ie detangling is sooooo much easier (compared with my natural hair).
- I don't use direct heat but can easily wear straight or curly styles with rollersets.
- I can wear a BIG, textured style where people wonder if I'm natural.
- It doesn't take hours upon hours to achieve the styles that I want.
- I get to enjoy the actual length of my hair, with less shrinkage.

I've been natural as well, and texlaxing is just the best of both worlds.

I did. It took me 19 months to get rid of all the bone straight. I refused to cut my hair more than an inch or two. I am only at APL still, but am totally in love with my thick semi-relaxed hair. I switched from no lye to mild lye....best thing I've done

i am in the procees of going from bone straight to texlaxed......

AND I LOVE IT!!!!!!!

i still have a few bone straight ends and cant wait to get rid of them.....i am gradually trimming them......my hair is so full especially when i do a braid out...hth

You all are making texlaxing seem SOOOOOOOOOOOO appealing.

For those who successfully transition how did u deal with the three different textures and do you have any tips for dealing with breakage.

I have got texlax (both times were accidents) twice in 6 months and the breakage is starting 2 picK up on me. I am using megatex so I don't wanna use anymore protein.

Current Regimen:

MWF and Saturday: Mega tex and moisturize
Tues/Thurs : Co-wash, leave in, Mega tex, and moisturize
Sunday: Shampoo, Condition, DC (ors pak), leave in, mega tex, moisturize

 HELO!!!! I am attempting to go from a very thin bone straight to texlax but my hair is breaking off at demarcation and I need some help, else I will go bone straight with my thin hair again....!

Someone PLEASE give me some advice. I've already scheduled my corrective retouch for this weekend but REALLY don't want to do it!!! :wallbash:

To stop breakage you will need to use as little heat as possible because you have two hair textures now. Also try the Aphogee product line which is packed with protein. You can purchase the Aphogee products at Sally's. To add moisture and make your hair soft and manageable use Lustrasilk and coconut oils.

Also try to use protective styles such as roller sets, twist outs, pin curls, or naturally dry your hair with leave in conditioners and set with a curl pudding like Miss Jessie's.

Also go to youtube and look for tutorials that teach you how to style your hair. I spent most of this weekend looking through the videos. Miss Jassy is awesome at showing protective styles.

Hope that info helped! :yep:

I did. I like it soooo much better. Bone straight hair was just too straight and limp for me. I'd hate my hair for the first week or two after a relaxer. Now I love my hair from the beginning.

Be careful though, because at times you will have three textures of hair on your head: bone straight ends, texlaxed hair and new growth. You have to baby the bone straight and what I did was trim just a tiny bit off the ends when you feel like it to keep it healthy

Subscribing......newly texlaxed here! I am on the look out for every texlax thread I see:grin:.

You should be able to go from bone straight to texturized, you may have to stretch a bit to get a good amount of new growth, once you have a good amount of new growth use a mild relaxer apply to your hair as a normal relaxer but don't smooth the hair for straightness. leave the relaxer for 5 mins or so, that should get your hair texlaxed texturized :)
hope this helps.... :0

I did notice from my last stretch that even if my hair was previously bone straight it still blended well with my new growth.

Every time I log onto this site...I notice another helpful thread....and I have to tell you my hair has improved tremendously...you ladies are all awesome!!!!...I'm bone straight relaxed trying to transition off chemicals without breaking my hair off....right now I'm stretching the relaxer to however long it will go without being damaged...I would like to try texlaxing but I go to the hairdresser to get my relaxers done. Do you all know if hairstylists do texlaxing? Strange question but I'm asking because I've really never heard of this concept and wondering if the hairstylists would know how to do it.

I tried pincurling my hair last night and I look Don King! :( What protective style can I use on a chin length bob?

When my hair was your length, I wore spiral/straw sets because they were a low-manipulation style and would last the whole week, even enduring my workouts. For variety, you can add a headband or pin up the back. They really helped me retain length.

My stylist knew about this concept when I mentioned it to her and she actually endorses and encourages her clients to do it. Needless to say, I was excited to learn this about her. She adds conditioners to the relaxer before applying to the hair. Just tell her what you want done and she should grant you your wishes.

You may want to try actual rollersetting to get it straight or simply just wear it curly with some Fanatasia IC styling gel with Sparkle Lites on it and see if one of those works for you.

What products do you ladies use for texlaxing?

If you have fine to medium textured hair, you might want to use a mild lye relaxer but if your hair is thick, don't use anything stronger than just a regular relaxer. Make sure to either reduce appliation time down to half or add oils and/or conditioners to the relaxer to reduce it's strength. I have a blog right here on how I did mine and it worked.

Okay ladies, I think I am going to stretch as long as I can bare it before I do my next texlaxer. I want at least 6 inches of new growth before I texlax again because I will chop off maybe not all but a great amount of the bone straight hair. I will continue to wear my wigs, cornrows and braids for a long while. I'll try for another 8-10 months of stretching. Bracing myself because I know this will not be easy...:look:.
