I make 30 look good!
Just finished my BKT!!! It was actually very easy. I had my mom do it for me since my sister is not back in town yet and I couldnt wait any longer. I just explained the product and process to her and she hit it right on the nail! Thanks Mom!

The tools

2.4oz QOD Max

Last night I parted may hair into 6 sections, sprayed my aloe, glycerine and rose water mix on it and sealed with avocado oil. I used my baby's no break elastics to make the poneytails.

Freshly clarified hair

naked blow dry - this was the worst part. I was so scared I was going to fry my hair. I let it air dry 80% then used the ionic cryer and ceramic vent brush. I love the 9.99 dryer and 7.99 brush though!

hair divided in 7 sections

bkt applied! We did it on the back porch with a fan blowing beside us. Not a lot of fumes. I smelled like something like chocolate when applied. Notice my hair isn't soaking int he product. I only used 1/2 of the 2.4oz bottle I ordered - QOD Max is the brand.

Not a great pic - bkt applied then hair blown dry on medium heat.

Here is post flat iron. I really like the way it turned out. It's light, swangin', and shiny as heck. That's all my mom kept saying while she was flat ironing it, "it's so shiny! and Not shedding like it normally does" After she took this pic we trimmed at least 1 inch off all over. I haven't had a good trim since I cute 4+ inches off last May. I'll take another post pic when I haves omeone to take it for me.

It was a great experience all and all. Now we gotta see how long it last and if it reallt does what people say for the next 4-6 weeks. I plan on cutting back on my washing to 1x per with with a sulfate/salt free keratin shampoo and dcing with silicon mix. When I get my technique doen I'll try a rollerset with my Lacio Lacio.

Way to go!! You and your mom had it set up just like a professional shop.

Why did I get tickled about the neckit blow-dry?

ETA: Your hair looks very pretty, light and not weighted down by product!

What are you going to do over the next 3 - 4 days?

Did you do the kind where you have to sleep on your hands for the next 3 nights?

Girl as much stuff as I buy I could open my own shop. This house has become the family salon. Our old hair stylist lost 6-7 clients when I found this site, lol.

Less seems to be more with is stuff. I was tempted to soak my hair with it but I soooo wanted get 2 treatments out of that little 35.00 bottle. I figured if I didn't use enough I could just do it again in a week or 2 vs. using too much and being unhappy with the results.

Naked blow dry was the best way to describe it, :lachen:. I felt so vulnerable without my IC heat protectant spray.

wow i'm really tempted, how will you know its lossened your texture? is that when you wash ? your hair looks really healthy though, you make it look so easy, where did you buy the BKT ?

Thanks for sharing your experience. I'm really surprised so many people are doing this on their own, but I guess you save a ton of money. The formaldehyde factor scares me, but I've been following the threads.

Pretty results!

This is a 48 hr formula so I can wash it out around 2 pm Tuesday. I actually plan to wash it out early Tuesday morning because I have an interview at work and I need to be able to put some curl to it and I dont want it bone straight. I just want to lossen the texture. I plan to add pics of the 1st couple of washes and subsequent treatments.

Great job and beautiful results!!! I know that no camera can truly capture the results!! In person that BKT'd hair just shines and swangs..lol.

See I'm about to ask her mom to do mine! OP & Moms can make some $$ on the side!! :giggle:

Doing it outside is a good idea!!! Your hair came out niiiiiice!

Solitude,

I bet you I won't EVER BKT at home again without a fume extractor AND a formeldahyde free (negligible amounts) formula. The fumes remind me a nail shop I went to with my sister that was huge but it didn't have any ventilation:ohwell:. I PROMPTLY did an about face, exited the salon, and waited in the car. I swear as soon as I hit the salon door I got a sinus headache.

Sorry, I forgot to answer this EBAY OF COURSE! Here is my vendor http://myworld.ebay.com/t_kelly*81/ good feedback and she was only 1 state away so I got it fast. I think I might invest in a full sized bottle. My mom and sister and interested in it now. They are both 80%+natural 3c with a tiny bit of 4a.

Try doing it ouside. It was very windy today + we used a fan. The only time we smelled fumes was during the blowdry. By the time we flat ironed I couldn't smell a thing.

Fabulous girl. Your hair looks AWESOME! I bought the same flat iron for my future BKT. Did it work for you in terms of usage? Looks like your hair loved it. :yep:

That was the best 25.00 TJMAXX purchase ever! When I saw that it went up to 450 I had to get it. I like it better than my sister's CHI.
