As the weeks go by in the transitioning journey it's becoming increasingly difficult to manage for some of us...

What one product helped make your transition easier?

The one thing that has helped me was my.............SCISSORS!!! I couldn't take the two textures anymore!!!

But as for my suggestion........what has helped me when I first tried to transition a few years ago was a moisturizing conditioner. I conditioned my hair twice a week and I deep condition once a week.

Any moisturizing conditioner should do.

Good thread!!!

Gosh just one huh? Ummm ...... Extra Virgin Olive Oil

Using it in my pre-poos has strengthened my line of demarcation, and using it in any conditioner for deep treatments has helped me as well.

ps. How is your transition coming along?

Hey P!

It's coming...:lachen:I'm taking it day by day. Today is an "I wanna BKT day"...I've had the "I wanna BC" days, the "I wanna big ole fro" days, the "I want to texlax" days, the "I wanna sew-in weave" days, and the "I want a short caesar cut like a boy" days but I'm still toughing it out somehow. Sunday I'll be 15 weeks post.

When I DC'd my hair yesterday I forgot to put my oil mix on top...:nono: boy that was a big mistake. Detangling was harder. The oil adds so much slip! That was a good learning experience.

15 weeks! Wow time flies. Listen to you. You sound like a transitioner, going from one emotion to the next. It is quite exciting though isn't it?

I'm still loving my experience though. The more rough days I have, the more creative with hair I find myself getting. It's all about survival!

Olive oil...One of the first things my research turned up (and two years before I found LHCF) was olive oil and it was a godsend.

Yes I just tried this last night (im a newbie) and it made a big differance.

That's me all the way! lol :lachen:

Keep the suggestions coming ladies. I am taking notes.

Oh...I have one- steam treatments.

I do Lucky's Mom homemade version. I haven't really decided if I am gonna transition, but I am trying to stretch my relaxer until July.

Well i would have to say, when i first started (and i WOULDNT recommend this necessarily) GEL, GEL, GEL. Technically it saved me. Just gelled the crap out of it and KIM in a bun - lol.

But i rather recommend co-washing and applying the conditioner like a relaxer. The conditioner really helped the line of demarcation and detangling. it made me think 'hey drenched in conditioner my hair is not that bad'

Lekair Cholestrol still is the best thing to detangle with if I ran out I would add Castor oil to my conditioner.

mini bc,wash and gos for a while, then braid hair in sections for shampoos and detangling, braidouts, and castor oil.

V05 or Suave conditioner helped me alot throughout this transition but.....like Crazydaze said gel is what allowed me to transition for 2 years. Without gel i dont know what i'd do right now.

Deep conditioner - two faves
- QP DPR-11
- Superdrugs naturals coconut & sweet almond

I'm back to my old trusty DRP-11. I used almost the entire Elasta QP line when I was a newbie. I love it. It's heavy enough to nourish the thicker new growth. :yep:

Okay, ya'll are cheating :spank: , she said ONE! Do you know how hard I had to think to narrow it down to one? :look:

Um, thanks...I had to reread and see what I said...:look::lachen: I don't really care though...it's all love.

I use olive/castor oil mix. :yep: :lick:

Two things that help me too. I use gel for my buns (especially my unruly curly edges)...I also apply conditioner like a relaxer. My hair is dense and it's the only way I can ensure all the strands get covered. :yep:

Creme of Nature Conditioner (purple bottle)
Hempseed Butter
Coconut oil

I used CON Nourishing for a LONG TIME. I finally switched back to DPR-11 because it's thicker but CON Nourishing was my staple as a texlaxed head. :yep:

Dominican blowouts. Sorry.

Flat-iron...

When I'm not bunning, I use heat too. I will be a heat-styled natural. :yep:

although I only transitioned for 3 months.....I couldn't have made it that long without Hawaiian Silky 14 in 1

Dag! Seems like I'm on the right track! I use HS 14 in 1 too! :lachen:Along with NTM Silk Touch and Garnier Fructis Sleek n' Shine Leave in. That's my product regimen when I heat style.

I'm feeling like a big ole PJ right about now. :look:

I'm currently transitioning and glycerin is really helping to smooth my new growth.:yep:

:lachen::lachen::lachen::lachen:

I'm sorry for :lachen:...I'm just feeling a little ridiculous because I have a bottle of glycerin that I've never used. I almost have EVERYTHING everybody has mentioned in this thread! I should have no trouble transitioning!
