I know this seems like it should be on the fitness board but it pertains to hair.I am trying to up my growth rate through exercise. To all the ladies who have done this, how muchcardio do u have to do to notice a change in your growth rate?I am thinking 3 days a week but I dont know for how long
TIA

Hi Katie,

I own my own treadmill, and I run 3 miles 3 days a week. Each 3 mile session takes me 36 minutes to complete because I run at a rate of 5 mph. I have noticed better overall health and better blood circulation. Personally, I think that it does help with hairgrowth among other things.

I agree with sweetpea. I own a tread also and I run/walk 4 days/week for one hour. I definitely would recommend any type of cardio exercise.

Katie, I do cardio 5x a week. It ranges from running, walking and doing step aerobics. I try to eat right, protein, low-carbs, fruits and vegetables, plenty of water. I take vitamins when I can remember to. I believe all of this has a part in having growing healthy hair. The amount differs from individual to individual. Keep up the good work

I do cardio 3-6x a week...just for 20min. I've also cut out half the carbs and bumped up on water intake and protein. I don't really take vitamins like I should...maybe 1x every 2-4 weeks...I know that's bad. Must do better in that area. HTH!

I think you should start with three days so you don't burnout, but I would suggest you eventually aim for 4-5 times a week for 30-40 minutes. If you're just starting 20 mins three times a week will keep you from overexercising. I own an elliptical, a treadmill, and a spin bike, so I get a little variation there; if you don't have any equipment, there are some really good home DVDs (P90X, pilates) that can also offer variation

^^what she said..

Around February I upped my cardio to 4-5x a week and I have been definitely been able to notice a change in my hair.

Same here.
I normally power walk/light jog for 40 mins, 3-4 times a week.

I go on the elleptical 3-4 times a week fr 30 minutes and I then I lift weights for 30 minutes. I've been going to to the gym for years and I've never noticed whether my hair grew faster or not. I always have to rinse my hair because of the sweat, but that's pretty much I it. When I work out, I notice changes in my body over all.

Same here. I do a walk/run combination on the treadmill at least four times a week.

I got a hair cut in Feb. 09. I have been upping my workouts since March 09. I noticed this week that I did have some hair growth.

Same here. I own an eliptical and I alternate between doing that for 1 hour and running 3 miles 5 days per week and yoga on Satudays, and I have not noticed a change in hair growth. I do however notice a change in my body over all.

Honestly speaking - I think you should just exercise for your overall body health and whatever benefits you reap from it will be a bonus.

I work out Monday to Friday, at least one hour each day - a mix of cardio and strength training (and I sweat a lot when I'm done regardless of gthe sort of training it is, maybe some more than others) but my number one reason for this is to be fit and healthy.

I don't really think anyone can tell how much exercise you have to do to notice a difference in your growth rate.
