Who DCs on dry hair? How (overnight or with heat)? What difference have you noticed? Do you shampoo afterward?

I tried to do a search and failed ...

Yes.....I dc on dry hair, with heat, I don't do overnight(too much breakage), I have notice a big difference because I didn't deep condition before, and since I have a child and I just can't hop in and out of the shower, so I dc first on dry hair, and shampoo with a gentle shampoo, and then I condition for the duration of the shower, I only shampoo once though.....I have a heating cap and I keep that on for 30 mins to an hour, what is it suppose to do, I honestly don't know, but I needed to add deep conditioning to my regimen, and my hair seems to be more moisturize, and doesn't look so dry...so is there a difference from dry to wet, I don't think so, but others might disagree, so far it has been a big benefit for my hair, but what might work for one doesn't work for all. I try to do a protein dc one week, and moisturizing dc the next.....HTH.

I too DC on dry hair, with or without heat. Can't really say I've noticed any difference from DCing wet hair, but ever since I noticed this as the way to DC with Aubrey Organics GPB and HSR (the directions say so), and then read of people doing it with Emergencee, it has become the way I DC all the time.

Yes, I do shampoo afterwards.

I tried it once (both with & without heat) & my hair didn't feel the same as when I DC on wet hair :/ I'm probably in the minority on this lol

I dc on dry hair at least 1x/wk. It varies what I do. Always 1 hr minimum with heat. Either hooded dryer or heat cap. Sometimes 1 hr w/o heat, 4 hrs w/o heat or even overnight. I don't shampoo afterwards but that is bc I'm not big on shampoo. I only poo 1-2/month. I generally cowash afterwards. I dc 3x/wk so I just see it overall beneficial.

I DC on dry hair most of the time(sometimes with heat, sometimes not), I rarely use shampoo so I co-wash after I rinse it now. Just from my experience, I think my hair feels more moisturized when I DC on dry hair...it's like the conditioner penetrates better on my dry hair than my wet hair.

HTH

I too have tried this and I like it better that DC'ing on wet hair. My hair felt much better. The downside is,you use a lot more conditioner this way. I've used heat/no heat...the same.

I DC on dry hair with AO products also. I like them much better this way. I wash with Creme of Nature poo afterwards so I don't have to use a rinse out conditioner to detangle.

I always DC on dry hair, if "dry hair" means before getting in the shower as opposed to after.

Sometimes I dc on totally dry hair and other times ill spray some water on it then put the DC on and get in the shower.

I've DCed on dry hair (prepoo and just doing a regular DC). I actually prefer DCing on dry hair but I rarely have the time for it. When I do, its overnight, and I also through some sort of protein condish (either with DC or after) or my hair becomes over moisturized. But overall my hair gets conditioned much better this way.

I prefer DCing on wet hair with heat. However, I don't have much time any more to jump in and out, so I do do dry DCs, but I'd prefer not to.

OMG! I DCed on dry hair for the first time on Friday. I can't even believe I have ever done it differently. I used a mixture of DPR-11, Aphogee 2 Minute, peppermint & rosemary EO's and castor/EVOO mix. My hair felt like BUTTER! No lie. It felt differently that it ever had before. Then I shampooed with Organix Tea Tree Mint. My hair still felt crazy soft. Then I dried and bunned it. I lost a lot less hair (both shed and broken) and detangling wasn't even an issue. No tangles at all. The icing on the cake was only having to get in the shower once! Dcing on dry hair is a definite keeper for me!

Ok. I'm sold! I will DC on dry hair for the first time tomorrow!

ETA: Did you use heat?

Yeah you should at least try it. You may get spectacular or marginal results but you never know until you do it. And what the worst that can happen?

True dat! The reason why I want to DC on dry hair is because I am using the entire Joico line which has you using the cuticle sealer immediately after a shampoo and then the reconstructor. I would like to ensure that the hair is moisturized before sealing.

I think I will do a DC with steam, wash, seal the cuticle, reconstructor and light moisturizer tomorrow. I will post results then ...:lick:

LOL I really am in the minority...

How is doing it on dry hair better than wet hair??

I Love DC on dry hair. My hair is more moisturized and it saves me time with the shower. I add a balance of moisture and protein, evoo, coconut oil, alma oil & peppermint oil. I feel as though I'm getting a dc, hot oil treatment and scalp massage all in one. I sit under my heating cap for 15-30 munites once a week. I think of it like a sponge. When you wet a sponge and then try to add something extra, the sponge doesn't hold much more liquid but when it's dry and you add water, it soaks it up. I think my hair absorbs much more when it's dry. I shampoo only once with ORS shampoo, vatika shampoo or CON shampoo then I add a rinse out conditioner for the duration of my shower. My hair has experience a definite difference in health.

:eek::eek: The authority has spoken! Beautiful hair! Off to stalk your fotki ...

I just DC'd on dry hair this morning and I will NEVER DC any other way! I am so happy with my hair. This was the final step needed for my regime.

Here is what I did:

Oiled my hair with Vatika, covered with a cheap conditioning cap and went to sleep. This morning I applied my moisturizing conditioner and sat under my steamer for 45 minutes.

I then washed my hair with Joico K-Pak, rinsed. Applied my cuticle sealer, rinsed. Applied my Joico K-Pak reconstructor for 5 minutes, rinsed. Applied Joico Intense Hydrator for 5 minutes, rinsed with COLD water (ahhh). I forgot to apply my Joico Split End Mender; ah well, next time. My hair was so shiny and strong.

I then sprayed my hair with SAA, applied Rusk smoother, and sealed with Hairveda oil. My hair is like butter. I think only 4 hairs came out.

Thank you all for your help!

:grin::grin::grin::grin::grin:

I DC on dry hair too, I slap the DC on and wrap my head in clingfilm and workout for about an hour .. rinse... shampoo.. dc with heat.. I'll use an alternative {moisture/protein} dc for the 1st n 2nd rounds..rinse .. acv soak.. rinse

I started DCing on dry hair earlier this year, and I'm in love with it! I wish I'd discovered this a long time ago. I use a heatcap for 30 minutes or longer (depending on what I'm doing around the house). I then wash with a mild shampoo and use Aphogee 2 min and then rinse. Sometimes I'll end the process with Porosity Control.

I don't think it's any better(some might say differently) but some of us don't have time to just in and out of the shower, so the alternative is dcing on dry hair.....DCing period for me has been good, because I wasn't dcing at all, so I just wanted to get dcing in my regimen, and my hair loves it...but my hair would love it if I was dcing on my hair wet, but dcing on dry hair is easier for me, and actually I waste about the same or less water......:drunk:

I DC on dry hair with AO conditioner as well. I love how my hair feels when I do this. My hair loves it! My hair is softer and more moisturized than ever before when I DC this way.

I like DCing on dry hair but I think you use more product doing so

ITA. I use a lot more conditioner this way, but it turns out great. It's because the water helps to spread the product.

I'm so glad you got great results lady. I love this method of DCing. I think of it like a sponge. When a sponge (the hair strand) is already wet, there's less room for it to absorb the liquid (conditioner), but when dry, it can really absorb a good deal of it. HTH!

I never felt any results from wet DCing...but when I accidentally did it on dry hair with ORS replenishing...WHOA! My hair was so soft and silky, with no tangles at all. I used a mild shampoo(CON) and a rinse out(Silicon Mix) This is the only way I can do it now!

my sentiments exactly big sis:yep:! I tried it for the first time three weeks ago and now it is the only way I plan on deep conditioning my hair.

^^^I dont know. I normally wash on wash days and dc on dry hair at least 3 times a week. It be protein or moisturizing condish but w/ my fine strands I quickly learned that i need to have protein w/ every deep condishing treatment may it be light or heavy...
