Is it normal to have spaces in you hair, when your hair is coily? I have been natural for 9 months and this is the first time i have ever taken pictures of the side of my hair. And i don't like what i see, is this normal or could it be balding:sad:.?

Sorry its so big i can't shrink it. Eta: It shrunk

Ah, yeah, that's normal/not balding - your hair is clumping. :yep: The longer it gets, the fuller it will get, and the parts will go away.

Here is a picture of my short hair.

They'll get smaller. :hug3:

And, the thinner your hair is, just in general, the more obvious the 'scalpiness' will be. Is your hair a slightly different texture in that area?

Now - if you seem to notice that they are getting BIGGER - that would present an issue. :yep:

That you so much, i didn't know because i really never take pictures of my hair but i wanted to document my hair journey. The back is longer than the front and sides. And i love your twists, so pretty.

I have fine hair i think, the strands individually are so thin. My crown is thicker. Sorry for the pic, lawd its hard to post.

:yep: Fine hair will do that too - it's just got less 'volume' to cover the 'area' :ohwell:

I wouldn't worry - just keep an eye on it, and be gentle (all over!)

when i first did the big chop 2 weeks ago you could see my scalp real good when i did wash and goes. its only been 2 weeks but now you can hardly see any scalp. i co wash daily so i think thats helping with the fluffiness of my curls.

It seems to me that you general have thin hair. Not the size of the strands but the general volume. That is nothing to worry about. Gosh, I just wish mine would do that. I never see my scalp. I can barely get to it. When my hair clumps it looks like fat caterpillars especially in the back. For some reason people mistaken my fat caterpillar looking coils for twists. They dont look like twists to me but it seems that many think that they are. The crown and front are looser, yet I still see no scalp. At least it will be easy to see your defined coils and curls. Its not so easy when the hair is compact and likes to stick to itself.

Thank you all for responding i was worried. I wanted to find out for sure so i can take action to correct it, If i was balding. Im as gentle as i can be with my hair and im finding my reggie. Thanks again ladies.
