You seal the hair by using an oil such as Castor oil, Jojoba oil, to seal in a moisturizer. You should apply the mousturizer first, then you apply the oil.You hair does not have to washed first to seal. You can seal daily after applying your moisturizer. What is the full name of Castor Oil hair and scalp comditioner.what brand is it?is it grease?
I usually seal my hair after deep conditioning while it's still wet with Argan Oil. A lot of ladies here apply a moisturizer to their hair and then seal it with oil.
Essentially what sealing does is help seal in moisture to your hair. So if you put oil on dry hair that has not been moisturized there is nothing to seal in (oil doesn't penetrate the hair shaft).
Greases aren't moisturizers because usually they contain petroleum, which just coats your hair and doesn't penetrate the hair shaft.
So when looking for a good hair moisturizer it is a good idea to avoid anything with petroleum, mineral oil and lanolin. For me those three ingredients dry out my hair.
I also moisturize my ends every night with a mixture of shea butter and glycerin. I don't seal it with oil then because the shea mixture seems to be enough.
There are other ladies, here on the board, who are better at explaining this then me but I feel it's important to know the difference between moisturizers, grease, oil, and humectants. Hopefully, one of our scientists will post with a more thorough explanation than mine.
