First, I want to start by saying that I have been using the “No Comb” method and it was going well up until, I reached my 12th week post-relaxer. Now, I have developed really bad tangles on the middle sections of my hair strands, which are, I think underprocessed. I’m due for a relaxer in two weeks and I want to get my hair ready for this process.

I have been using lots of replenishing shampoos and detanglers, which have CONES in them, and I’m way past due for clarifying. So, my plan is to clarify tonight. However, because of the tangles I already have, I need cautiously proceed with detangling my hair first.

Does anyone have any suggestions for what I should do prior to detangling and any suggestions on what I should do for the next two weeks until time for my relaxer. My first thought is to detangle really well and then put my hair in plaits or braids so that I want have to manipulate my strands. Does this seem like a good idea?

My hair has really been thriving and I don’t want any setbacks, so any suggestions that you have that will help me through this process is greatly appreciated.

Part your hair into 3 or 4 section before you wash it. Put oil on all of your hair, and that should help you get some tangles out. Immediately after clarifying a section (applying mostly to roots, and squeezing the lather down), put some conditioner in your hair that gives you good slip. You should be able to detangle fairly easy from here. Also, remember to braid or twist each section before you move on to the next, it'll keep your hair from retangling. HTH!

This method helped a lot. Thank you!
