Let me 1st say I luvs me my black people but we need to get with the times. I went to my grandfather's funeral Thursday past in Gloster, MS (one hour south or Jackson MS) and I have not seem so many finger waves, freeze curls and gel french rolls in my life.

Please explain to me why a gold ring has to be on every finger you have???!!!!

Anyway it was any experience to go back to small MS town.

I am from Jackson, Ms, but been in MD for 20 years. (I am 33 now)

When I go there for a family reunion or something, I so see people rocking styles that were either out a long time ago, or never really chic to begin with.

But that is one of the things I actually respect about our country. You will see changes in styles and variations of what is "In" all over the place.

Most people will imitate what others are doing to fit in with others in their area though.

It would be harder for me, if I had to live there though. It would be like going backwards. But, like I said, I respect it - with a chuckle of course. :giggle:

I have to admitt i sported them in the early 90's and that i was too cute.:yep:

:giggle: "We" can create some styles can't we? When you were talking about the freeze styles that popcorn or pineapple hairdo immediately came to mind.

My friend got married in 2004 and she wore that style at her wedding. I have never ever eva wore that style.:nono: Always hated it.

I think it went out in the mid 90's.

:lachen:My cousin wore her hair in the pineapple frozen style for her family portrait. They also used that picture on her obituary and I was like "NO THEY DIDN'T":nono::lachen:

94..was the last acceptable year for finger waves or the dreaded "freeze" !! LOL

Gloster, MS?? Is that close to McComb or Summit???

I think they are coming back...especially with all the retro looks some of the celebs are wearing...I admit I would wear some soft looking waves if I could figure out how to do them but the ones that are all plastered to your head with all that gel is a no go:nono:

This is why I never follow fashion. I do my own thing...whether anyone else does it or not, and if I ever do something that is "trendy" it's usually an accident because I seriously don't pay attention. So I never did those styles either. And the frozen dos always looked like snail slime was used to freeze them to me. And you know what's else, while everyone uses gel to smooth out their pulled back hair, I actually don't mind the "frizz". I told you I dance to the beat of my own drum. :look:

hahaha..my mom still has a picture of me and my ex boyfriend on her wall and I had them. I should have my daughter take a pic of it and send it to me so I can post it:lachen:

I wanna see it.:yep:

I use gel to smooth my edges back :giggle: I never follow trends either, well I have but haven't in about 20 years.

Dance on ain't nothing wrong with that.

Dee shut up no they didn't

I think they thought it was cute. I always wondered how you sleep with the pineapple hairdo? Women would keep their hair like that for weeks. My brother dated a woman that always had weird styles, (she was in my wedding with one of those styles:perplexed) I asked her how she was able to have sex with her hair like that.:perplexed

I didn't even thing of it, we got lost in those back woods. Was 6 min late for the funeral. Going down path that look like grass and rocks were suppose to be roads...i was sooo mad. My dad had to come out on a major road to find us and when we followed him to the church i was like there is no way in hell we would have found this.
Yes. Right in the same area. She was 45 mins away from me. You should have called me Eyunka.

I went to a furneral at a church that was way off in the woods. I admit I was a little scared.

Okay is that sort of like that lady I see at my job that sports this WAY high behive type hairdo that won't move even in an earthquake and tornado. He hair is almost as tall as she is and I am wondering if she has any neck issues. Gold rings on every finger that nasty 14k gold also puke. She is a LOVELY person. Sweet, kind professional acting I just thought that was something West Siders do. They do that in other parts also?

Girl there were cows right across the path ( I won't even say road or street because it was neither.)
Most folks think MS is the country anyway but where we live is nothing compared to what i saw last week....On the way to finding the church there was a horse tried up to a tree in the front yard eating grass.

Across the street from my grandparents house were horses that came up to the fence to greet you.
