Are there any hair do's or "tricks" that for the life of you, you will NEVER know how to do? :wallbash:

Post here! So I won't feel so bad about myself :look:

I can NOT wrap or cornrow.. no matter how HARD I try! I've come to accept it :yep:

I will never know how to do a simple neat pony tail, even when my hair was relaxed with length I just couldn't do it, so I would use pins instead. lol now that im natural im so happy that i can make a puff, but when it gets longer(bigger) i'll be right back to square 1.

I can't braid. My mom is an amazing braider, who, back in the day, used to braids peoples names into their hair and stuff like that. She tried to teach me, but I just don't have the manual dexterity. And my white friends used to ask me to braid their hair because apparently it's in our genetic code as black people to know how to do cornrows.

:lachen: Girl you know it! My mom is very skilled at braiding too and I can't do it to save my life! :wallbash:

I can't french braid/cornrow/flat twist....I am barely getting by with braidouts/twistouts. :nono:

@ the bolded: :lachen: Omg I remember that... I still get asked that from time to time. I feel so embarrased when I say "no" :look::grin:

Oh I could NEVER do that. The way people slick down their pony tails with such ease. No matter how much brown gel or IC gel I used I could never accoplish it :wallbash:

I cant do box braids. For the life of me I dont know how to attached the synthetic hair! That would save me sooooo much money. :wallbash:

i can never get the front of my hair right in my flexi rods or rollersets so i always have to pull the front up in a hump or clip :spinning:

:lachen: Girl, you aren't the only one. I can't cornrow to save my life or wrap my hair that well. I pretty much stick to my pokahontas braids and bunning. One day I'll practice, but certainly not on my head. Maybe I should get a dummy head or something? I was a tomboy growing up and never bothered with my hair or learning how to do it. I'm also ashamed to say I can' flat iron my hair to save my life, either, so I've just given up on it.

I can only plait and I can barely do those. No cornrows, french braids, nothing.
My hair nor head shape make braids look attractive imo.

:lachen: :yep: :yep: Yep tomboy here too! Once I learned to just so some regular box braids I was set for LIFE

I can't wrap my own hair. I've tried several times but its just too much hair. I think I need to try pins to keep it up. Even my old stylist had a hard time wrapping it

I'm so styling challenged that it would be easier to list the styles I can do. I decided to give styling another try this weekend and did some bantu knots. They looked so easy when I saw others do them. But obviously my two left thumbs are not meant for styling. :(

Any braiding besides individual braids (or whatever the hell you call the braids that hang down). I can not even flat twist. That stuff is too complicated for me.

Oh, and when it comes to the braiding and twisting I can do, I can not part to save my life.

Oh yeah, those too! I had a disaster just a couple of days ago. Talk about tangled frizz city - and I detangled beforehand! :wallbash::nono:

Exactly. And I was so hoping that it would come out well. I think I'll put the pics in my fotki anyway. So that when I think to try this style again (which was darn uncomfortable to sleep on) I can remember how it turned out.

I can't cornrow for nothing. It always comes out really lose with like 5 stitches.

I can't do a bun either. Not because I don't know how but my hair is entirely too thick.

I fail at bantu knots too.

Good idea! But I was looking.....wicked. There was no way I was showing my face the way my hair looked that day. And they were a b**** to sleep on. I'm too afraid to try it again.

yeah, bunning don't work for me either. When it does, I need a pound of gel and 999999999999999 bobby pins.

I didn't have time to do another style after I took my knots down. I was already running late for church, so I just put my hair in a ponytail. I just added the pics from my bantu knot adventure to my fotki. Below are some of the pics.

I thought the knots looked okay at this point and I was excited for the outcome.

Then I took them out, fluffed, and got this. Maybe I was too rough when I fluffed them out. :ohwell:

^^^ Semo, girl those look really pretty- your knots and the knot out! Trust, I had jacked-u knots not bantu knots and even though I still had high hopes for when I took them out, I was highly disappointed. I wanted to cry.

PCD you are too kind. :hug2: I think the flash on the camera is making it look better than it is. There were a couple nice curls, but those few nice curls were coming out of a mass of frizziness.

Oh also I cannot wrap my hair. I can never get it smooth, I get that weird bird's nest action at the crowd. One side always comes out sticking out and crazy when i take the wrap down.

I can't wrap either and I'm scared because I am planning to BKT this fall and I know I am going to end up getting a crease in my hair because of it.
