This stuff is just as messy and runny as it can be... I was thinking about mixing the color in with some deep conditioner and doing the treatment that way.

Has anyone tried doing that with good/great results? Or even DECENT results LOL.?

Or what are your tips for those messy hair color treatments?

You have to embrace the messy!!

I get those cotton strings in a box from Sally's and wrap them around my hairline, behind my ears and around my nape. Then I put on a plastic bag and let her drip.

Otherwise you will dilute the color..it's too expensive for that IMHO

Have you done a search on this topic? There are a few long threads about cellophanes, including some where people added the color to their conditioner.

What color were you using Camilla?

Yes I have searched and I'm not finding the answers I'm looking for...I searched and read through the forum for years before I actually paid to post lol.

I don't understand what's wrong with using the Cellophane straight, that's the best way to get the color and the shine...the cotton strips help stop the running, you should give that a try. That's what they use when they do the treatments in the salon. Make sure your hair is almost dry about 70% or so when you add the color and have good plastic gloves and a good plastic cap with strong elastic. That works great for me. I also sit under the dryer or heating cap to get the color to uptake faster.

My problem straight has been in the shower it gets all over the walls and floor and around the place for my husband to clean up lol... I don't know if I'm just heavy handed with it or what but it's a problem for me that it's so messy, I'm using blue black mind you. I love the results but it's just a messy mess, and not to mention the mess I make on the floor even with towels down sometimes it's a mess while trying to clean up the mess while trying to prevent the mess...:wallbash:

Or what if I just mix it in every conditioner or every other conditioner to take a slower effect I don't know maybe it is just me...

Emmm I dont know if this will help but the first time I tried it, I used it neat and the results where great. It was messy but only when i was rinsing it out. i just washed my bath tub right after so as not to suffer staining.
I have also done it mixxed with condish and I can tell you the effects where not as good.
I think you may just have to accept that its kinda messy.

Here's what I ended up doing... I had to end this "mess".

I mixed the color in with some heavy/thick conditioners. My theory on that was it will make the runny color less runny and "flingable". The bluish color still dominated the conditioner colors of course, but runny it was not. I viewed this as a plus.

I sat my behind down in front of a mirror instead of standing up in the bathroom getting tired and dizzy like I normally do.<<<Am expecting. Parted hair in 4, with 2 in the front and 2 in the back. Used my rat tail comb parted and "painted" the color/conditioner mix on to my hair part by part piece by piece. It took me an hour to do this. After I finished each piece I used the rat tail comb to flip the side over to the opposite sides this was an easy task since the hair was fully covered and it laid down nicely. Also a plus.

Put on 2 conditioning caps and I'm deep conditioning with it just like I would deep condition on dry hair any other day. I can already see it "working" on my hair so after I finish processing and doing my hair, I'm going to whip out the digi-cam and post pics. It's been awhile anyway and I need to update my fotki.

I rinse mine out in the kitchen sink with the hand sprayer thingie. That works great, my sink is white porcelain, even so, it doesn't stain and the mess is very well contained. I clean my sink with bleach all the time so any stains would come off anyway. I wouldn't rinse it out in the shower, it would get everywhere.

Okay yes the sink sounds better I do have a sprayer. But the good thing is, it wasn't so flingy! Blue black can't possibly look anything other than bluish black, I hope lol, honestly I feel like it's going to come out just as fabulous as without mixing it with conditioner I only mixed enough thick conditioner to change the consistency a bit, so we'll see.

Thanks.:drunk:

I have two of these at home and use them from time to time. They can definetely be runny but I personally prefer to use it without. When I use it with a DC, the color doesnt take as well and seems to wash out quite a bit:perplexed I thought it was just me but a stylist told me that when you use something TOO moisturizing following a coloring service, the unstable color molecules/particles will wash out easier/faster. This is definetely true because I'm always messing with color and I notice that when I rinse out the DC I use after the color application the water is a very pigmented shade of the color I used (the color wont completely wash out though, so dont worry)...

So now I saturate my hair with the cellophanes and use heat for while with it and then ill put on a DC afterwards but I wont keep it on for too long...

Ya know what, when I rinsed it didn't look bad at all... I'm airdrying now and I'm just damp - it looks great!
