Ew, those are the ugliest weaves I have ever seen in my whole life. I would be so damn mad if a stylist had me leaving the salon looking like that.

And most of these girls were 3 or 4 Aphogee treatments away from having pretty hair. The girl with the blonde hair at 0:50 had pretty decent hair for hair that had been bleached. O, the huge manatee.

IM not against weave if its used as an accessory or a growing tool .. or even as someone who is contemplating it because of the sheer lazyness of being pregnant , LOL

Some of these women clearly need a hair intervention,,,

i am grateful for my head of hair. though it may not be the length i want it be, it is healthy and growing. i am also glad i didnt come along during a time when weaves were the rage like they are now. i will never wear a weave. i may get some braids but i would cut my hair off and go with a fade before i put one of those things on my head sorry JMO.

this is not a slight to those who wear weaves for low maintenance to help their hair grow. but your hair is HEALTHY. the women in this video do not have the same options.:nono: their hair is not.

eta- i believe hairstylists should care about their clients' hair. how could you in good conscience not do something about a woman with bald spots and you are putting glue or thread on hair strands that can NOT handle the weight from a weave. true it is a money business and you got to do what the customer wants.... RIGHT???

i am off my soapbox now. sorry i got carried away. :nono::look:

I don't know if I agree with everyone about the weaves. I think most of them looked pretty nice . I also liked the wraps she did. The picture of that silk wrap makes me want to start going to the salon again.

I don't know about super talented, but SOME of the weaves were nice.

I literally shouted when I saw old girl at 3:11. That's RIDICULOUS and she needs to go see the dermatologist.

Weaves didn't start just becoming a fad, they have been for a long time, when I worked in the salon at 15, 16 years ago that is ALL I did, at 16 I was weave queen; I was requested to do their full glue weave to a point where at 16 I was going home at 12:am in the morning (I am glad those days are over) Slavery I tell you!!!, I could put a glue weave in your hair and it would be tight like a sew in. I hated when customers came two days later to remove them. I always cared and still care about the health of my clients hair, You'd be surprised how many people would rather save 5 bucks then pay for a treatment in their hair. It amazes me. One girl agreed to get a treatment her hair was bra strap length. One day she decided to do her own relaxer. Came in to get her weave and her hair was literally dropping like it was hot. I was like you want to keep your hair, and gave her a Dudleys DRC I told her the price. She agreed. when it came time to pay she CRIED like I forced her to do it. I showed her the hair that came out and then the hair that didn't come out after I braided her and washed her, it ceased the tears but my goodness, they would rather save a penny and let their hair look like they have dalmation spots

I agree her weaves are alright, but many look like hair in a bag, you could buy the partical weaves or lace fronts and they would look equally as good!

You were also right (the member who said it) MOST stylist don't seem to care about the health of the hair. It's about the mighty DOLLAR$$$$; Sad, I used to get the evil eye for turning clients away that wanted double process same day! Go figure.

Reminds me of the episode of ANTM when the chick cried because they had to take her weave down and expose her extremely damaged hair:nono:. She was so ashamed.

My motto is I have to look and feel just as beautiful without all the additions. That means taking care of my hair, skin, body etc. Cause in the end it all comes off :look:

In all reality most stylist (Not All!) are not concerned with Your hairs health, just with the appearance of.

I don't understand why so much energy is put into attempts at covering the hair instead of being more proactive in finding out more about healthy black hair care.

It's like dirt being swept under a rug :ohwell:
I couldn't finish the video. IMO the afters are almost as bad as the befores.

YEP.
:yep:

A lot of their hair probably looks that way because they constantly get weaves. Shouldn't you allow your hair to "breath" at some point.

This is why I'm so frightened to put a weave in my head...I don't want a full sew-in...just a few tracks...but still.

I wonder what that Reneice does to actually grow hair with weaves. Everything I've seen has always been the opposite...hair loss with weaves.

Well, you can wear weaves back to back as long as you are taking care of your hair underneath, but most people's hair isn't strong enough to handle it.

Weaves don't make your hair grow, but they really help a lot of people retain all the growth they get while in the weave. But, that's only if they are keeping their own hair clean and moisturized underneath the weave. Otherwise all that growth will be for naught, because their ends will be dry and crispy, and eventually break off.

I love weaves because it's makes it so easy for me to take care of my hair. But most people get a weave so that they don't have to do anything for their hair, and that's where they mess up.

People also leave their weaves in for way too long.

ANOTHER STORY: One lady came in she had a sew in pony, she didn't wash her hair FOR 9 MONTHS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

She was pregnant and was due the following week. Said cut it all out because she hadn't washed it in so long, I guess she knew what was beneath the PONY.

I asked her "you want to save your hair" (MY FAVORITE LINE). She said don't trouble yourself. Her sister in law who came with her left.
I took out the pony tail *(P U, it smelled horrid) the braided hair had a dirt & Dandruff shell covering it completely. I took the metal tail comb and picked the dirt out, a piece flicked my eye, it BURNED LIKe hell, It had dreaded itself. It took me 2 hours (Thank goodness it was Sunday and it was slow) I had to do a few rollersets in between,

but I managed to loosen all the dirt and untangle the dreaded hair (Bob Marley Dread)
The hair was long yet thin in the crown after I removed the dreaded circular braid
sister in law came back 3 hours later CUSSING ME OUT SAYING why did it take me so damn long to do her hair.
ALL I CAN SAY is I was cutting her hair and the scissors never left my hand. :D

The very pregnant lady was so appreciative for me saving her hair, but I told her please never go that long with a piece in her hair or without washing her hair. and showed her the hair loss. Mind you I got a very nice tip! :D

I hope this is more understanding, just Don't leave your weave in for longer than I would say 4-6 weeks. I know people who left it in their hair for two months I think by that time; considerate damage is done!

Why? Why? Whhhyy?

Why would someone think that is ok to do? 9months?!!?!?! I can barely go 9 days without yearning for some conditioner. That goes beyond black people not knowing how to take care of their hair. That just goes against all logic and reasoning. Lawd.

I'm so glad I saw this thread. I was looking on Craigslist for someone in the area to do a sew-in for me and she was on the list. I don't need someone to focus on the health since I know how to do that myself, but I DO want it to look good, so I can cross her off my list. Ah well, back to the salon review forum.

SMH that these women are from my part of the state...:nono:

:perplexedWHAT??????:lachen:That is hilarious..... And I will respectfully and wholly disagree....

Thats fine, That is Your opinion, and Your entitiled, as though I am as well, but as You can see I stated "Not All", cause naturally I have not been to every stylist that exist, But the majority is about the Money and could care less about our hair on a personal level, I have come across a few that truly care about Your hairs health, but not many.
