WARNING! Ladies, please check all of your supplements before taking them

On January 17, I started my HHJ and I purchased what was supposed to be a bottle of 120 count 5000mcg of Biotin from GNC. Tonight, I happened to look at one of the pills and I saw the word ASPIRIN. I immediately did a double take into the bottle and realized I have been taking one aspirin a day. This would explain why I have not reaped any of the benefits many claim with the use of biotin. The bigger issue is where did these aspirin come from and how did they get into this bottle when GNC does not sell aspirin to my knowledge. The funny thing is that I wondered why the pills did not fit the actual size of the diagram on the bottle but, I dismissed this because I felt that maybe they changed the design of the pill. The bottle was sealed so I really did not have any reason to think otherwise. Big mistake.

This is serious because I could have had an aspirin allergy and the consequences could have been grave. I have been so tied up studying for the Bar, working, and taking care of my children that I neglected to take time to really look at what I was taking. I have never been an aspirin taker becauase I have a clotting disorder so I never would have figured the pill was aspirin that I have been taking for almost two months. This is really disturbing. I just wanted to warn all of you ladies to be careful of what you are ingesting. Tomorrow will be very interesting as I must contact the Attorney General's Office, GNC Corporate, the FDA, etc. This reminds me of the Tylenol case from the 80s. This pills must be tested along with an investigation. I really feel foolish for not realizing this sooner.

Again, please check any pills or medications you are ingesting. As this is something that is very serious and could be potentially life threatening.

Thanks for the warning. The thought of this happening is really scary. At least it was labeled aspirin. We all take pills trusting that it truly is what the company says it is. Who knows what we are really putting in our bodies. This makes me rethink the supplements altogether.

Thank goodness you are ok considering the allergy.

Thanks for the warning. How could they mix this up? I don't get it. That was so negligent. I hope that no-one has already died or gotten severly ill because of this and hope no-one will in the future.

Thank you for posting this. I know there is nothing that can compensate for the potential health risk, but at the very least they should offer you a complete refund along with a complimentary bottle of what you were originally seeking. Do they know that you're (2 seconds away from being) a lawyer?

It's best to get supplements derived from plants. Because these other supplements use ingredients that the body can't absorb well or won't recognize and it will just pass through you and you have no benefit for it.

I have been on the phone with GGNC Corporate, the FDA, etc. This is a strange case because GNC claims that there is no packaging of their products in a plants that packages aspirin. Now I' m really getting disgusted. Where did these pills come from?! They want to send them to their Quality Control plant but, I am going to wait for the final word from the FDA. I am surely not sending anything to them until there is clearance from another source and I make sure that this evidence follows with a legitimate chain of custody. What makes it so bad it that the franchise owner of the store where I purchased this item from has the nerve to be on the defensive. She had the nerve to tell me I was making a serious accusation. Is this heifer serious?!!! She doesn't realize that her retail store is just as liable as GNC corporate because they put the product in the stream of commerce, and her store sold it. I'll keep you all posted.

Of course it's a serious accusation!!!! Her store sold it. People like them need to be audio recorded. Next time you get ont he phone with anyone try to record them. Best if luck.

so they're implying that you subsituted the product for aspirin? anything to keep their butts off the bad PR wagon. SMH. This is a shame. I hope you stick it to them. I wonder how many other products in that store/supply chain may have been substituted for aspirin.

Any Updates? Remember GNC lets you return used products, so maybe you received a returned product that was resealed?
