First off Hi imma newbie and I am so glad to be out of lurking. My question is: how do i get these dreadlocks out of my head.. My texture is a 3c or 4a.. Help me please..

Welcome!

So your hair is really tangled/knotted? Or do you actually have locs? What hairstyle was it in that caused the tangles? If you just took out braids/weave, don't get your hair wet because that will just cause a bigger problem.

In general, you need to be really patient. I usually get tangles out by soaking them in oil (or conditioner), waiting a few minutes, and then working them out with my hand. And then a small toothed comb if necessary.

:hiya:

To remove knots amd tangles, an overnight condish should resolve. Slather your hair with your fave condish and extra virgin olive oil (or coconut oil). Put on a plastic cap and detangle in the morning, starting at the ends of your hair working towards the root (widetooth comb).

Use a decent conditioner and you should be fine.

My hair stays in a ponytail or in a bun and I detangle only once a week.Thank you ladies!!!! I really apprieciate the love!

I find that shed hairs cause my hairs to dread/tangle. I keep oils on my hair so that a lot of the hairs will slide out. During the 2 weeks in between washes.

I agree with everyone else. Last night, I remembered why I don't airdry or do braidouts. I tried a braidout again for the first time in seven months and it was a matted, tangled mess when I washed it last night. I had to load it up with olive oil and leave-in condish to detangle. It took nearly five hours because the knots were so bad!!!

I have the same problem. Every time I try a braidout or twistout I end up with a jacked up tangled up mess :nono:. To detangle, I usually put some NTM and olive oil on my hair overnight and start the long detangling process in the morning.

My hair does not tangle but I do get knots. What works for me is to always detangle my hair at least once a week. The most recent thing that has worked wonders on my hair is by using conditioner mixed with baking soda and I left it in my hair overnight. Ever since then my shed hair has been sliding out just by finger combing my hair. I am amazed because I wear my hair curly everyday and I never wear it straight.

I just wanted to give yall an update. I deep conditioned (over night) with Le Kair cholesterol and co-washed with Jamacian mango & lime protien conditioner, then i detangled with Just for me (2 in 1 conditioning and detangler) and ORS olive oil and used the pointy end of a rattail comb and my tangles came right out. thank all of you ladies for your assist!

I use apple cider vinager mixed with water on the knots before a wash it. this helps me get the knots out easily. then i braid my hair in four braids and wash it.
