I don't know anything about weaves....never had one, nor has anyone close. I can't get over the color so it looks like a bad toupee to me. It is just so obvious fake. I thought the whole concept behind a weave was to "try and fool somebody."

I don't think the asymmetrical look works for her with that texture and color.

Bad toupee? Hmm.....kay. Some wear weaves that are natural looking and others just don't care. Well to each its own and thanks for the input anyhow.

It looks like it is put together well, but I don't like it. I don't like the style or the color. But I understand, that your client likes it and that's all that matters.

I wouldn't call it a bad toupee but I think I get what Ebonybee means. Because of the color and the asymmetry, the first thing that comes to the mind of one not familiar with the style is a wig badly placed on her head. A wig, because the style is so nicely done it's hard to believe she didn't buy it like that. And because the color is so distracting, it takes you a while to realize it's a style depending on which side you see first. But as you look at it longer, even one not familiar with asymmetry starts to see the artwork. Her bad choice of color does make one think of a wig or toupee thrown on the head in a hurry. Methinks if you're going to do something unique, it's best to keep some of the "parts" as close to normal as possible. A darker color might've made the first question a stranger has for her: "Is that the new cut these days?" That color with a regular, more common cut might've made the first question a stranger asks "You dyed your hair?" if they haven't got good weave radar. But when you decide to be eccentric with style and color, especially without folks knowing just how much work went to into creating that, you set yourself up for a lot of :nono: . But she does get points for being daring.

Peppers, I'm laughing at you adhering to the rule that "the customer is always right" regardless of what you think. :lachen: I ain't mad at you. You've got mad skillz (and a lot of tolerance I might add...and self control :giggle: ) coz I can't believe you keep a straight face throughout your work.

For a second I thought the OP was the one in the pic....and I was about to say ya'll are a little too opinionated....but since its not I have an opinion too....GREAT JOB OP....but the color looks like doo doo on your client...

BTW I would like to get one of these but I can't help but to associate the style with hoodrats...maybe its just me....

I like the style itself. It would look very natural in another shade. Like Bostonmaria said, I like the way it is done in the back.

I don't think I have ever actually seen someone walking around IRL with that color. It is the stuff you only hear stories about. :look:

:lachen:I can understand that. She is a co-worker of mine, and she's actually natural and her hair is that color also. She usually does 2 strand twist outs. It kinda caught my eye like WOW when I first met her. But the 7 or so months that I've known her, I have gotten use to it. So it's no biggie to me now. And you know what, I can't stand going to get my nails done and telling the lady how I want my nails done, and they just have to add something extra. So, whatever they want I give it to em.

Case and point: This was the last style.

She screams hoodrat!!!!:lachen: :lachen: :lachen: :lachen: :lachen:

The client, not the OP's skills.

I think it is kind of mean to infer that someone looks like a hoodrat, to each his own. I am natural and people make assumptions about my hair because they are not use to it, when I bc'd my cousin really thought I needed counseling and that hurt.

Y'all are trippin' on this? This is typical in Houston, New Orleans, Detroit, New York, etc., etc., You've never seen women with super-loud, highly colored, stop-traffic hair? Skin color doesn't matter, super dark or extremely light, bad taste is bad taste. There are very few people who could rock this color and look even a little bit natural.

Wow, you all must live in pretty mundane cities. There is nothing shocking to me about this. Sometimes you'll see this with some flame-throwing red mixed in for good measure...how's that?

Peppers, great job on styling. You know your stuff. Give 'em what they want, sis, give 'em what they want.

I think people are in an uproar to see it on THIS board, where we don't see, um, that flavor all that often.

OP good job giving your customer what she wanted!

I personally don't like the style or color, but I can appreciate the artistry in placing the pieces. OP did a great job on the install so if her client is pleased, and obviously she is since she is a repeat client, then a job well done.

nah..never seen to much of that in NYC or here at lhcf.

I see this style and color quite often on the southside of Chicago. :look: It 's not my style but I think the OP did a really good job giving her client what she wants. Some of the things we do here to our hair (co-washing, stretching, etc) may sound crazy to stylist but it's not their job to judge... it's their job to do what we ask them to do.

First I thought this was a joke but do u boo do u. OP great job u gave her what she wanted. Like when on Baber Shop the girl came in and asked Queen Latifa to make her look Beyonce and when finished she said do I look like Beyonce and Queen said yea girl.:lachen:

Wait... you MADE that?!

Wow.

Go head witcha bad self!

I wish it was a deeper caramel to highlight your goldenchocolate looking skin.

The style and color are a little to "hood" for me.

But to answer your quesiton OP I do think you did a good job, because you gave her exactly what she wanted.

I like the second style. I wish you were in MS.

As for your client. It's her choice. I don't judge other people. I've had blonde, green, pink, etc. People are going to think what they want regardless.

Some people remove the plastic cap after the style is complete. Most people use it just to protect the natural hair from the glue while placing the tracks.(The glue would seep through the stocking cap and end up on your natural hair). I'm not sure if people wear cornrows but I know a lot of people that wrap their hair when they get this style.

ITA! I live in the south and I see people rocking whatever color they feel. There are a few young girls in my neighborhood with burgundy, blonde, bright red, etc. To each his own. It's not my style (even though I bleached my own hair the same color in my teens and 20's) so I can't really knock the client for her choice. OP gave the client what she wanted and she's satisfied that's all that really matters. As for the "hoodrat" comments, maybe she's like a lot of other people who gives less than a hot d*mn about what other people think. :ohwell:

I'm just wondering if some of the people saying this style looks "hoodrat-ish" are probably Mary J Blige stans. I'm sure some of y'all would get crunk if someone were to say the same about Mary.:look:

Sorry for the hijack, Peppers!
