I just received this email...

Good morning ____,
_____was trying to tell me about a website that will help grow your hair. Can you please send it to me?

Thanks,
_______________

Part of me is amused because my DH really knows a lot about hair based on what he sees and hears from me but the other part is like :ohwell: because this woman is kind of sweet yet pushy. Also, I don't know how she will receive some of the advice on here (like MN, MTG, Megatek, Cowashing, etc.)

How he look referring people?:lachen:

He told another friend coworker that her ends looked damaged because she wears her hair down too much and it's rubbing against her clothes. :lachen:

Lawd help him.

:rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::lachen:
i was feeling a lil icky after a not too pleasant phone conversation this morning, but this right here just made my morning beautiful again :sneakyhug:

I can't believe yall trying to steer this lady to another website... OP, I would suggest you tell her what your DH is expecting you to tell her. She can take it however she wants.

Well, what if you give her the wrong site and she tells your husband the site you gave her....

her: oh yeah she gave me the website...www.bhm.com
DH: :nono: that's not it. it starts with a "L"...

:lachen:

The only reason I support her doing it is because the relationship is on a financial level. I say give her the other sites and tell her to "try" google-ing phrases like "long hair care". That way if she does it then she will "find" it on her own.

You know you can't have your husband letting out "our secret" :sekret:

Give her some other site! :lachen:

Isn't there one called "Long hair community", or something like that? Yeah, that's it! I'd send her there! Anyways, she would be so far away from you!

Tell DH the truth...you gave her a comparable site but you want LHCF for yourself...that's reasonable. Then tell him to ZIP IT!!!!

As for her, you have no allegiance or mandate to tell her the truth or anything quite frankly...so I wouldn't feel the least bit leery about sending her somewhere else. It's not like you're sending her to the snake oil man...lmbo!

lol this funny!!:lachen: what if she goes to another site, gets searching happy, and end up on this one anyway?

This is how i ended up here!!

Yeah, after I hit the submit button I was like "oh shoot what if she sees my thread!"

...but I haven't responded to her yet. Maybe I'll refer her to one of the others:look: j/k.

My husband is a mess. I wonder how they even started talking about this.

:lachen:
He was probably looking at her hair and thought she needed the help.

I hate to say it, but I would be pissed! I already told DH don't ever make jokes about my hair "obsessions" in public, or talk about how much time I spend on the internet. :look: :lachen:

The husband stories are always so cute and funny! Ol' girl was kinda wrong for asking about a "website that will grow your hair" though. Really now?

I would give her www.motowngirl.com and keep it moving.

:lachen:

Shishi give her all of these and some of the blogs as well as the youtubes of Marcharieamour and Traycee.

Here are some others you can tell her to visit.

Cnappyme.com
Nappturality.com

Throw them all at her with the exception of this one. But she may run into this one anyway if she visits the others sooner or later.

Your husband sounds like he would be a great stylist! You two could open up a salon and really start educating some women about having healthy hair.

Bless your hubby! He is helping women one head at a time.

Girl, I ain't gonna lie. I was like :look:.

THEN this man gonna tell me to tell his mother about this site right in front of her... He was like "ShiShi, tell mom about that long hair site your always on" I acted like I didn't hear him...:lachen:

I've told my sister and my niece about it but anyone else? :perplexed I just don't think people would understand what we do here...and your right, I feel like this is my secret place to escape and destress, etc.

I am going to email her back a list of websites you guys mentioned here but I am going to leave this one out!

I can't believe all you ladies are keeping all this valuable info from someone who obviously needs it! You all FAIL!

J/K....:lachen:

That was sooo funny!LOL @ snake oil man!

So true! And she will still learn good hair practices, just not here. Don't have your husband's friend all in your business, and don't feel bad about it. There's nothing to feel bad about. You are still helping her, something that you really don't have to do.

He is always telling me how the women at work have jacked up hair. He was trying to describe two women to me and he kept saying "Their hair looks like a lion's mane...that's the best I can tell you.":lachen:

This is how i ended up here!!

This is exactly what I was thinking. I think I registered with all the hair forums when I started my journey, lol. If she's hungry for the info and gets started, chances are she'll end up here, espesh with this one being one of the friendlier and helpful and easy to navigate forums.

Kitten, LOL @ your avatar! So many times I've taken pics of the wall and the ceiling and even my naked butt  while trying to take a pic of the back or top or side of my head, lol! :lachen:

She might be put off by having to pay for full access!

If I were in that situation, I wouldn't tell her anything. And I would tell my husband to stop telling people and trying to help all the women in the world. But that just me.

hahaha..consider yourself lucky that your husband doesn't know the name of the forum like mine does. He has randomly mentioned it to people and I have given him the look of death for doing it. One of his friends was having a movie night or something at his house and the friend said to me "you can call some of your hair board friends and invite them over"...my mouth dropped to my toe nails:lachen:

I don't want to step on anyone's toes butta...
I feel bad for the co worker, because obviously she needs some help. But to see women want to steer her in the wrong direction troubles me. I can understand that you don't want your privacy evaded but I honestly believe that we as sistas need to stick together at times like these. We have SOOOO many issues when it comes to our hair as it is. I mean it's just hair and besides if you were in her shoes would you want to be treated like this behind your back...especially if they don't even know you. It's just weird to me is all.

Girl...I am too through!!! You know it's deep when a man (who is not a stylist) gives you tips about your hair!!

I don't think anyone is steering her in the wrong direction at all....all of the sites mentioned are credible and members of this site are on some of the other sites, especially as it relates to natural hair care. But it's just not THIS site...LOL

LHCF is my secret life lol. No one, and I mean no one who chills with me or family knows I'm on here. It's because I use to spend so much time on here and write in difference parts of the board that I won't want anyone to know what I said on here. Sometimes someone would ask me what I do to my hair, and I just say something simple like "On I just bun it up to keep it out my face" :giggle:

No one that knows me in real life even know that I have a collection of hair products, and all the time I do on my hair each day. No one I know even heard of a fotki, so I like being anonymous on here :sekret:

Back to topic: I think if I was the co-worker who your husband was telling her to join LHCF I would personally be offended. You know your hair is jacked up when a man comes up to you and says so!

Or so he thinks...when my T3 flatiron came in the mail he said, "why are you buying a flatiron when your not supposed to be using all that heat on your hair?"

Funny!! Next thing you know, your DH is gonna be going up to people asking them "Are you Nikko's cousin?!" :lachen:

CLASSIC!!!! I swear I would be on the floor rolling and in tears if this stuff ever came out of DH's mouth.

I'm gonna send her someplace else. I don't want her knowing anything about me...

Is that mean???

Nope, not mean at all.

I cosign. Unless you don't mind her asking for your SN so yall can be hair buddies.

ETA: Don't wanna burst any bubbles or anything but ummm LHCF is NOT the ONLY credible black hair care site. Many of us are apart of other forums. We get our knowledge from various places and share it on multiple forums
