i'm completely confused about what happens after you put it on..:lachen:, okay, stop laughing.

so, i put it in after i wash and then do i put my moisturizer, oil and chi on top of it? or just the leave-in by itself?

also, what are you favorite leave-in conditioners?

thanks.

I seal with oil. Sometimes use Chi silk infusion

My favorite is Phyto 7; after I apply it, I apply camellia oil with a little extra on the ends of my hair. Then I brush and bun.

My favorite is alter ego energizing cream; i used to like lacio lacio, but its wak compared to alter ego...i apply my leave-in to freshly washed hair and I seal with a serum

My favorite leave-in is KeraCare Leave-In.

The leave-in is the first thing I put on my hair after washing. I follow with my moisturize and then oil or serum.

Hope this helps.

I love Aphogee Pro-Vitamin - after I DC and towel dry, I spray some on and then use some Fantasia IC to tame the frizzies.

I have never understood the difference between a leave-in and a moisturizer...nor can I understand why someone would need both. I mean why use a moisturizer if your leave-in moisturizes? And if you have to use a moisturizer after, why use a leave-in that doesn't moisturize?

What do leave-ins actually do? And if whatever they do is so necessary, why not just use a leave-in?

Why would you need a leave-in, moisturizer, and serum/oil? And if you need all of those things for your hair to act right, why is your hair so messed up in the first place?

Anyway, I just use castor oil on wet hair. The water moisturizes, the castor oil provides a protective layer, keeps the water from evaporating too quickly, and increases the softness of my hair.

a leave-in is for light moisture and applied to wet hair and a moisturizer (usually a heavier cream or oil) is most often, but not always applied to dry hair...Leave-ins and serums are priorities for me and many others who rollerset to achieve a smooth and moisturized rollerset without greasy, heavy, limp hair. Applying oils and moisturizers may be fine for naturals but for relaxed heads, all that will weigh the hair down.

Thank you for explaining. I see a lot of relaxed heads saying they apply a leave-in, moisturizer, and a serum or oil. That seems like too much, relaxed or natural. I mean, I only use water and castor oil, so anything else seems like too much to me.

Ok so leave-in on wet hair, moisturizer on dry hair. I think that makes sense. If it's wet, then the hair obviously has moisture in it, so a leave-in that provides light moisture makes sense (kind of). If the hair is dry then it needs moisture, so that's when the moisturizer is added...I always wet my hair when I feel like it needs moisture (every day) so that makes sense.

Giovanni Direct Weightless Leave In is my fav. I apply it to wet hair (roots included) followed by Fantasia IC Shine Polisher and that's it. I do this whether I'm air drying or otherwise. And I love this combo when my new growth starts coming in, it really helps moisturize the line of demarcation.

i wash deep con then use ALTER-EGO leave in or LACIO-LACIO THEN ROLLER SETand AIR DRY or sit under my dryer:yep:i am in braids now so i just use alter-ego and air dry. and then use a mois and seal and i am done.

For me, my leave in IS a moisturizer.

For EVERY wash, I use a Fermodyl leave in (619 regular strength or 233 on relaxer day). I massage that in. It is like using a toner on your face, for me. My hair just takes in other product better.

Then I apply my creamy leave in/moisturizer, which is Komaza's Shea Butter Lotion. :lick:

I then use a serum, Fantasia in the pink bottle. I use this because I do use heat on my wash days. If I did not use heat, I think I would just use a natural oil product.

Doing this helps my hair maintain moisture. I still do my daily moisturizing, but my wash day process is a good foundation for the week to come.

Some may think this is too heavy for them, but it works for me.

I love Knot Today leave in and I use it after my washing co-washing I love the way it leave my hair very soft.

A leave in is an extra step in moisturization. I'm experimenting once again with leave in's & have at times made my own.
it's just another level of haircare not necessary or un-necessary but just another choice for your hair care.
I apply my leave in on clean wet hair & then another layer of moisture with shea butter usually. TOday i'm trying a roller set with my leave in and setting lotion mix...we'll see how that goes...:)

I think leave in conditioners and moisturizers are interchangeable. I think leave in intially by manufacturers meant it was not to washed out like a rinse or deep conditioner. Hair boards are the only place I notice differentiating between moisturizers and leave ins. Leave ins should moisturize and can be used on wet or dry hair depending on how a person wants to use it.
