IIRC, they get it from a temple in India and some of the people weren't even aware that their hair was being used for weave.

I believe that Indian people (Hindu?) cut all their hair off at least once in their lifetime. They may also cut their hair to receive a blessing or in gratitude for receiving a blessing. They go to the temple and their heads are shaved and no money is exchanged in the process. The temple then sells the hair to suppliers for pure profit.

If you are aware of this process and/or have ever been to India, this knowledge underscores the importance of washing any human hair before it is installed and sometimes disinfecting/de-licing it if it is virgin remy

Wow...I've never used fake hair. I'm now certain I never will.

They also noted that only 25% of the hair comes from temples. The other 75% comes from villages where women save the hair that comes out of their comes/brushes, pool it together, and sell it. They were saying that the temple goers didn't care what happened to their hair, but the ladies in the villages were peeved because they are selling the bunch for about $2 and the weave-makers are making a killing.

Nothing new to me. Have heard this for years...and I still wore weaves, peices, and braids. UM...human hair pack of weave is just that..another humans hair, but its processed several times over in preparation for use. Never ever heard of someone wearing a weave and getting sick from the hair or catching something from its previous owner.

idk. i wear braids often with extension hair but I usually use synthetic because i've always thought that the idea of having some random real person's hair on me to be a bit creepy and gross tbqh

even if it can take heat styling or whatever. jmo
