I'm a newbie who has yet to notice any relaxed or natural 4b'ers sucessfully using the ayuredic powders for growth and condition.

Which leads me to ask, if it really for every black hair type?

sure it is henna has been by africans for years, before ayurveda became just recently a new thing, if you ar ennot convinced look at lina40's fotki she has 4b hair and her hair always comes out beautifully whenever she has henna they are many others!

Yes, these are not a new thing, they are just getting popular with blacks. There are many 4bs on this site that use them sucessfully.

Thank you ladies! And no, I wasn't doubting the timeline of ayuredic's use, I was just wondering if there were any success stories for women with 4a/b hair, preferably through the use of oil rinses and powders.

Another reason that i ask this question is because I know that some of the powders can be very drying. This, in light of the fact that the curlier the hair normally the drier it is, really made me question is it right for my 4a/b porous hair.

But I guess experience is the best teacher, so I will do my FIRST oil/powder treatment tonight (thank you CandyC) and see how it comes out.

I use it ayurveda successfully, and I'm probably a 4a....I luv it! You should do a thorough search on this board, there are huge threads on this....

A 4 textured gal here that uses ayurvedic products. I use henna and most of the oils. I have yet to try the powders and teas. Another area for me to explore...

I'm a relaxed 4a/b and love Ayurvedic powders. I always use them as rinses instead of conventional shampoos. I have noticed a SIGNIFICANT difference in the condition of my hair since using Ayurvedic powders and oils. I have also had some decent growth.

Oh honey, never be afraid of Ayurveda. I find that its use does take some adaptation on highly textured hair, but I feel it can work for anyone. For example, most Black women use a DC after their powders. I don't personally feel a need to but that's just an example of how Black women adapt Ayurveda to fit drier and more textured hair. Definitely do a search though, because I've seen it work from type 1a to 4z. :yep:

I have 4a-z hair also and I jumped right in to an ayurvedic reggie. I do a tea rinse and DC every week and I'm currently rollersetting after a henna treatmet. Luuuuuv it!

I'm a texlaxed 4a hair type and my hair has grown and the condition of my hair has improved dramatically. I plan on updating everyone on my progress in June when I get my next touch up after an 8 month stretch. I swear I did a twist out today and did not believe it was my hair hanging that long.

Natural here ... I'm pretty sure I'm a 4b. Been using several powders for a few months now. Loving it!

4b here, and I use the powders mainly - it's the only thing I use to 'wash' my hair, and I haven't had any issues..... and of course, I love henna long time.
