So i have been loving my transition so far until recently..i am 18 weeks post and running into major problems. My main problem is styling i have tried bantu knots which only came out right once i think its due to my nape being shorter so i cant twist them right and i cant do flat twists to save my life :look:
I went and got my first Dominican Blowout 3 weeks ago and loved it but i dont want to make it a regular trip...
I want to transition until Dec 09 which will be 14 months but lately i cant see going past next week!!

Tonight i shampooed with Kenra and put on GVP reconstructor and then deep conditioned with Kenra MC a tangled mess!!!!! detangling was horrible and i was going to try flexirods but wasnt happy at all :wallbash: So i guess i need a little more encouraging before i run out and relax..

what has helped you ladies with your transition??
what products made your newgrowth super soft and provided you with major slip?
And are there any other styles that can be done?

I greatly appreciate your help..TIA!!!

I'm sorry your having transitioning problems. I transitioned for 15 months and then BC'd. I bunned it, weave it, and kinky twisted my way through my transition. I consistently used AO Honeysuckle Rose Condish and ORS Replenishing Paks. I would add castor oil, coconut oil, and/or honey to my DCs more moisture and shine. After 14 weeks I started washing and conditioning my hair in 3-4 sections (either by twisting my hair or using butterfly clips). I continue to do this as a natural.

Have you tried straw sets?

I twist my hair and curl the ends with the curlers thaat look like straws...

I'm nearly eight month in and I've lost a considerable amount of my relaxed hair...my hair was too short when I started to do a pony tail and it still is so twist outs is the only thing I like....I'll prolly get braids for a few weeks soon...

I have tried the 2 strand twist out and it seems that it doesnt blend well with my new growth or it gets flat when i sleep...i should try to use rollers on the ends

I've tried braid outs this way as well but I like the look of the twist better...

I used to just twist the relaxed hair so no parts showed but I'm actually liking the way it looks after I twist from the roots on up...its less puffy...:)

I started off with Keracare, which I no longer use. This is typical you'll keep going through products until you figure out what works best for you. If I had to do it all over again I would use shea butter in the beginning. I used ORS replenishing paks a lot. This helped keep it soft and keep the protein and moisture balance in my hair. I did a lot of braidouts too for a while. I was just like you too. I cut my hair short enough to where I could no longer put it in a ponytail. Keep your hair trimmed too. But when you deep condition be sure to sit under the dryer and put oil in your hair. There will come a time when you will have to detangle under running water if your not there already. I hope this helps....
