:perplexedI am really antsy to try the Auyredic(sp?) method on my hair as prescribed by Candy but I wonder if the fact that my hair is not friendly towards protein will become an issue.

The reason I say this is because I have heard that if the powders (amla & shikakai) is not rinsed out correctly it can cause drying. Does this mean that it is more of a protein-builder??

These powders are not proteins however they have tannins in them that work similar to protein in regards to their strengthening power. Amla powder is acidic in nature hence the drying effect. Shikakai is a conditioning and strengthening powder in one and if something strenthens the hair, it hardens it to a degree by coating the hair or filling in broken bonds within the cuticle wall, etc, and would require some moisturizing deep conditioning to provide some suppleness to it.

Now I do use ayurveda powders on my hair but always in the form of glosses as found in my fotki. I cannot deal with the very hardening effects of these powders alone because my hair is really too fine to handle that kind of stress. I did try it Candy's way, but again too much stress for my fine hairs.
