I have not self relaxed my hair in about 5 or 6 years....so I studied the self relaxing page(s) til no end...I was looking for more of a texlax result but I got it a little straighter than expected- I am just so glad that it didn't turn out like it did it a few years ago.

I put EVOO and conditioner in the relaxer which bought me some time - I was able to finish in less than 15 minutes. I see that I will need to practice more because it was not pretty but it was effective:rolleyes: I am still working on this picture thingee stuff but I posted a couple of pix above my siggy of my results...

Hey...same thing happened to me! I feel like im sorta half texlaxed to be honest! Not used to self relaxing, and even with Mom's help and oil in relaxer, I left it on too long cuz we were two clueless newbies strugglin :) I'm really happy with my middle, its got lots of texture still, but edges/parameter are pretty much just straight..but it's a start. Better luck to both of us next time. At least your hair looks nice though!

I have a pic below of the only part I really consider texlaxed. Sorry for blurriness

I had the same problem. For years, I'd been using the wrong strength of relaxer until a stylist told me I didn't need even regular strength (post Mizani disaster). Lye is so very diff. than no-lye relaxers. I switched to SE mild and my hair is very silky, straight wet, very loose curls dry. It didn't really "relax" my hair except to take off a bit of the curl. But it flat-irons very easily and super straight on the new growth. So I guess I also tex-laxed. You might want to switch down strengths to the mildest. On your next couple of washes, your new growth might come back curly.

Overall, you hair looks marvelous and professional. You did a wonderful job.

Thank you!!! The relaxer strength that I use is mild - never anything stronger. However, I did a little smoothing and thought I would need to since I put so much EVOO and conditioner in it - but next time I will apply with no smoothing and see what happens...

Good job for your first attempt at texlaxing sqzbly. If you want a little more texture next time, just remember how much you diluted the last relaxer and dilute it even more next time around. Also, I find that because my hair is fine, I need to use mild lye. Regular strength relaxers are wayyy too strong for my hair. I do have 4lbs of regular strength Design Essential relaxer that I haven't even touched yet and I know that I will have to dilute that one quite a bit to get the results I really want. I'll double up on the diluting when I need to use it and work it through a little faster than I did with the mild relaxer.

Hey Girl!!!

I can't even remember the last time I used a "regular" strength relaxer - this was done with a mild relaxer...When I wash a couple of times this week maybe I will see a little texture - I am not bone bone straight but not as "texed" (is that a word) as I would like to be...I am just sooooo glad my hair is not stuck to my head, I didn't burn and I don't have any scabs!!!!
