so the other day i was looking at traycee's youtube videos and noticed that she mixes oil in most of her conditioners. i hadnt done this in a long while. so last night i pre poo with AO GPB then did an oil rinse with vatika. then shampood with CD black vanilla shampoo, then i mixed redken's all soft heavy cream with JBCO and avosoya oil. i slathered this on my hair and used heat for 30 minutes. when i rinsed my hair was soooooooooooo soft and it felt thick. i loved this feeling because my hair is fine and thin so i need all the thickness i can get. after i blowdried and flat ironed my hair was still so soft. the oil is the only difference in my regi and my hair loves it.

so for all you ladies with dry hair this winter, and you feel like you did everything and nothing works, try adding oils to your deep conditioners not just your pre poo. you see how beautiful traycee's hair is.

and if you have been doing this already for a while, what difference have you seen in your hair?
and what oils do you use?

I either shampoo, cover my hair with olive oil, then condition it out (all in the shower) OR
shampoo, then cover my hair with conditioner followed by a generous helping of olive oil. If I do it the second way I use a cap and sit under the dryer for at least 30 minutes.

The difference this makes for me is incredible. I have fine, dry hair and adding the oil goes such a long way to helping me retain moisture and softness. I cannot imagine that I will ever stop doing this.

I love doing this. I mix JBCO in conditioners, and coconut in my leave-in (because it's lighter). It makes an "okay" product a "great" product.

i've found that prepooing with sweet almond oil transforms my hair no matter what. i apply it at night, sleep and follow my usual routine.

I agree! I've started using more oils lately and my hair is looking the best ever. I finally found a moisturizer that my hair loves and I believe it's because of the oils in it. Ingredients: water, oil, oil, oil... lol

I add shea butter or whatever oil I have on hand (tonight it was coconut-camellia-rice bran combo) to my conditioner for CO washes daily and to my DCs on the weekends. The only time I do not add oil or shea butter is doing a final rinse with a moisturizing conditioner after my DC and before doing my hair. I love it!

Chebaby, thanks for posting this.
Last week I went to Whole Foods and bought these oils: jojoba, coconut, sweet almond, grapeseed, and avocado. I also bought a bottle of Aloe Vera Juice. I took a bottle of conditioner and mixed it with all those ingredients. My hair just felt fabulous. I also used this homemade DC and used it on my oldest DD. She said her hair was very soft and not oily. I decided to make my own deep conditioners from now on and keep adding oils and AV to all my conditioners.

Oils is the answer. Oil is all I use as my "moisturizer". Vatika oil on the length and castor on the ends.
thanks ladies for the responses. keep them coming.

i have been using my vatika oil lately and my hair loves it. i've had it for a while but didnt use it because of the smell but now the smell doesnt bother me . my hair loves it.

glad you like conditioner and oil mixes, i can see it turning my hair around. i only went over each piece once with the flat iron because it was already so silky.

I've been oiling my scalp but tonight after applying my kbb hair milk and butter, I put on jamaican black castor oil and I'm sitting here like wow, why didn't I think of this before!!!
