Megatek: Does it change you new growth texture?

I've read several MT threads and some ladies have claimed that it's hard to tell their new growth from their relaxed textures. Has this happened to anyone else? Is this an added benefit to using MT?

my new growth is super soft! The texture is very different than my older hair. I was starting from bald in some places though and completely new hair for me sometimes comes in finer and straighter than the exsisting hair and gets courser as it gets older. Dont know if this helps you at all but, it's my experience.

for me the megatek made my newgrowth thicker...........but the ovation......made my newgrowth so much softer & it DID CHANGE MY CURL PATTERN ! the pattern is not as tight, looser. I kinda like it !!!!!!!!

MT made my hair a lot thicker. Just added some OCT to my mix, so maybe it'll make my new growth softer too.

I started using MT the day after my last relaxer which was 9 weeks ago and I really haven't been able to tell the difference between my NG and the relaxed hair! I thought my hair wasn't growing until I did a flat iron 8 weeks post relaxer and saw that it has actually grown quite alot. I mix my MT with olive oil (about 1/4 olive oil and the rest MT) this has just kept all NG so soft and straight. I even tried air drying my hair with no oil on the roots to try and get it to kink up a bit so I could see how much had grown since the perm but no luck all i got was one lame soft wave lol

you are probably right about the mega tek and the OCT. I have been using both pretty regularly so I cant say totally which is making my hair softer.

I noticed a change in my wav pattern. I use to be able to get deep waves when I would gel it down, but now I don't get deep waves anymore and the ones I do get I have to apply gel to my hair the second day and it will dry with some waves in it.

I have to agree with this. My wool is still just as nappy as before.

For me, the new growth comes in thicker, but it seems more manageable at the same time, if that makes any sense.

Hey bgt! I am wearing a sew in right now and just apply it between my braids with a color applicator. I did this for 5 weeks before and got so much growth. The proof is in my fokti. I'm expecting to have a gain of at least 3 more inches for my January reveal. I can hardly wait. I do make sure I keep some moisture on it as well. Right now I'm using water mixed with some amla oil. I cowash at least 2 times a week. Hth!

Well, I was just wondering because when I use MT w/o rinsing it, my new growth seems...different. I guess I'll have to wait and see for the long term.

I typically apply MT to my nape and temples, but I think I'm gonna start using it throughout my scalp to see if there is a noticeable difference.

These are topical growth aids. Do a search for both, but I must warn you it is ALOT of information on it and alot to read but is well worth it.

Same here!! I was touching my NG today and I was like, "Why does this feel so different?" I pulled out my mirror to inspect and my NG has a beautiful curl definition that certainly wasn't there before!!! This Mega Tek/OCT is truly something special!!!

The first month I used it my NG was softer. The curl pattern was looser. But it was only temporary. Meaning when I washed it out, and if I didn't apply any more to the hair, it went right back to its normal tight curl.

So the texture change is temporary? If you stop using it, does it go back to your old texture?
Has anyone experienced this???
