So I wandered into a random BSS the other day while I was Christmas shopping, I saw that they had samples of this whole line, so I decided to atleast try something. The baby buttercreme was the fist one I picked up and it smelled so delicious! I rubbed a little bit between my fingers and applied it to my edges. My hair instantly felt super soft (7 wks post). I decided to buy the smallest size and test it out especially for my new growth since I plan on stretching now. The next day however, I noticed the ingredients list ( i was to caught up in the smell/softness in the store I guess) and there they were 3 of the forbidden ingredients Acytelated Lanolin, Mineral oil, and Petrolatum:blush: I still used it, and dare I say it made my hair feel softer and more moisturized than my beloved Hairveda Whipped Cream.

Now I know some favorites on the board ( Mizani H2o, HS 14 in 1) have some of these ingredients. But I just wanna get you ladies opinion on using a product that has all 3 of these ingredients. Also if anyone has used this product, what is your experince with it.

Thanks Ladies!

I'm not really sure how to describe the smell. It's very yummy, like you could just grab a spoon and eat it. I think it smells like pure vanilla extract but hubby disagrees..so i'll stick with yummy!

I didn't know it contained mineral oil. What does it smell like?

I haven't tried it. The price tag for the ingredients it contains has stopped me ($58 for 16 oz./$32 for 8 oz). I would maybe try the product if it only had mineral oil listed but beeswax + mineral oil + lanolin+ petroleum+ animal protein (as opposed to wheat or soy) is a bit much.

Baby Buttercreme Ingredients:

deoinized water, acetylated lanolin, beeswax, shea butter, cocoa butter carbomer 940, fragrance, castor oil, dilaurate laneth 15, glycerine, glyceryl stereate, hydrolyzed animal protein, imidazolidinyl, jojoba oil, baneth 15, mineral oil, methyl paraben, milk protein, panthenol, paraffin, PEG-400, PEG-100, stearate, petrolatum, propyl paraben, treithanolamine, vitamin E, wheat germ oil

Bad ingredients...but my hair likes it. I still use the first generation of the buttercream-the new version I believe doesn't have placenta-which is a no no in my book, but I still use it.

I used the regular buttercream in this line. I will say that my hair felt soft and produced one of the best twist outs I've ever had, but the next day my hair just felt yucky. I would never commit to a product that cost that much anyway, no matter how good it made my hair look.

Ditto, for the baby buttercreme. I just ordered some more and I don't know why...I guess the BOGO got me. I will likely just go ahead and sell it. :ohwell:

Thanks for the replies ladies. I think I will just use it up (only bought the 2oz sample)and maybe attempt making my own creme minus the crappy ingredients!

Maybe that is what the animal protein is...placenta :barf:

i know it's got a few baddie ingredients but I love this stuff. It along with cantu's leave in creme makes my hair just say .. Ahhhh.

Used it in 2005..... Let it go about 6 months later...... So greasy and full of Baby Oil. I could not keep paying all that money.....

I love miss jessie's buttercream I have the orginal that smells like peppermint. This is one of my holy grails of the many in her line. I know that it has what is considered "bad ingridents" but it works great for me. A lot of products I use have "bad ingridients" but the work fine on my hair so I continue to use them.

ANd so true....they give me some bad *** defined twistouts!
