I had my hair pressed the other day by a great stylist  . She told me that a great way to deep condition, especially for my ends, is to get a cheapie flat iron from Wally World or something, wrap foil around the plates, put the conditioner in my hair and quickly go down my hair in sections...focusing mostly on the ends.

There are like two threads on this in 2003/4 one being good and the other saying that their hair was fried! :nono:

So has anyone tried this before?

Or you can condition with a cap and/or hooded dryer, overnight, steam, etc.

I've never heard of her method :nono:

I don't see how it would be that bad. It's to cut the time down from being under the dryer.\

ETA: You're not going down the hair with the flat iron just sitting there. You touch it to each section once or twice for a second. The ends she said to do three times. This is something that they recommend for I think Sebastian 2 + 1 Reconstructor.

This is the way they did it to me at the salon years back when i did the treatment by Sebastians 2+1. It leaves your hair sooooo soft...at least for me

I've never tried it, but I've heard about it, specifically for beaded masks.

Thanks!

I think if done right, this can really work out. I guess I won't know until I try, nice to hear some opinions.

I have heard of foil around the hair and then using a flat iron, but never foil on the flat iron itself. Interesting. To me, sitting under the dryer under a condish cap sounds a lot easier in comparison to this.

As a previous poster said, you do this with the ISH treatment. I love it! I've never tried it with another conditioner though. The ISH treatment makes your hair so incredibly soft. You wrap the foil around your flat iron and put the iron on 220 F. I don't see why this wouldn't work with any conditioner??? But I know ISH is especially formulated to be used like this.

ETA: That the ISH treatment left my hair feeling better than any deep conditioning with heat that I have ever done. Can't even compare!

i might try this one day...

I actually have an ultrasonic iron which is supposed to do this without heat. So far I really like it for protein treatments.

Healthyhairjourney.com has a video doing this technique on her you tube channel. I saw it a few years ago and wanted to try it but I was scared I'd do it wrong and burn my hair.

Moptopmaven had a Youtube video on this.

Just enter her name into the search field. I think the title of her video was Xtreme Conditioning.

Sent from my iPhone using LHCF

Seems like alot of work. I'd rather deep cond over night. But if you do try please let us know if its worth the time and the benifits of it

Wow, I know this is an old thread, but I just ordered the Sebastian 2 +1 heat reconstructor and I want to use it after I dye my hair. I'm told this treatment will help repair and strengthen my hair.

I want to know if I wrap the foil on wet hair? then tap the flat iron over that?

Thanks ladies!
