E, does the 1 inch straighten better? So the 1.5 inch was faster and the 1 inch gets your hair straighter?

In my experience, I can get much closer to the root and more precise results with the 1". I do smaller sections so for me, it does get straighter.

So, I just bought another one from Ulta (Rusk) and it has the smooth shiny plates. It gets up to 446 degrees and was $60. I decided against the Chi and Sedu only b/c of price and this gets hotter. My biggest thing is should I have gotten an Ionic iron. Do you guys think the Ionic is any better? I see that Sallys have the Ionic flat iron for about $70 and is wondering if I should get one instead?

Could you let me know how you like the rusk once you have had a chance to try it out?
tia,

I voted other because my favorite right now is the Hana Pro in Pink... I call her Pinky she always gets the job done. I'm also liking my Instyler, but I'm having a feeling it might not get the new growth as str8 as I want once the NG is poppin'!

i love my FHI but i have noticed that after i flat iron my hair will feel silky but dry if that makes since. but i just bought the hot sauce today so that should help.
also today i just bought the 1" CHI original and the chi silk infusion so i will see how that works. i also have the paul mitchell super skinny balm so that may help the flat irons work better too.

What flatiron do YOU rep? Tool Science Nano-Silver Digital Styling Iron from Sally's
http://www.sallybeauty.com/nanosilver-digital-iron/SBS-646700,default,pd.html?cgid=Hair09-06

Which model is it? 1.25in $89.99

Why do you love it? It gets my hair straight and keeps the moisture in. It heats up quickly and has dark plates. I like that it is digital so I am sure which temp I have it at. And I got a free Tool Science Ionic Hairdryer with my purchase. I think the dryer is approx $60 itself. I have gotten more compliments on my hair since I have had it. I can flat iron and it last until the next wash.

Are you relaxed, natural or texlaxed? I am relaxed with very thick hair. I am trying this so I don't have to relax every 4 weeks.

This is only my 2nd post!! I'm just the crazy new girl. :band:

GHD. GHD GHD GHD im texlaxed/relaxed and my 4b roots turn to butter with one swipe. I have a fhi and it does not even compare! Its expensive but...its amazing.

Subscribing! This thread came right on time!

I have the Maxiglide, but it is big and bulky and hard to get to the roots. It's aiight, but it's the only one I've tried so I don't have anything to compare it to.

Where are the 4b/4z-coarse girls out there? I'm really interested in knowing which flat irons work best to straighten your hair.

I have the Sedu 1.5 inch. I don't straighten my hair that often but when I do I like this one. I don't use the highest setting and it does the trick. Can't complain. My hair laughed at my step mother's Chi.

Oh and I guess you can tell from my pic that I am natural.

Okay so my last stylist used that Sally's brand flat iron, and i really liked it.
has anyone who has used it,as well as another one,and prefers the other one please explain why?It does a good job to me,but if there is one that does a better job as far as preventing heat damage and straightens well,i'll be looking into that one.
Thanks!

what model fhi do you have?

i was between getting a fhi platform or a sedu but now i'm thinking i should consider a ghd...

Yeah I haven't really compared this flat iron to others, so I would not be an authority. The only other flat I iron I have used was an Jilbere I bought years ago. I felt like it didn't protect my hair as much as the Tool Science one does (of course the technology changed a bit in between that time; I think it was porcelain plates on the Jilbere I had). It just never got my hair as straight as I would've liked it, but it smelled like I should have. Haha... The Tool Science one is not like that. I actually just went back and got the smaller Tool Science Flat Iron that is 3/4 in wide. I think I am going to use it when I just want to concentrate on the roots so I can get in real close. But I really do enjoy the Tool Science brand so far.

Update: I used the little Tool Science flat iron tonight after co washing. I didn't like the little one as much. It snagged and overall was kinda awkward. I will be taking the little one back, but I still love the big flat iron. I don't know why the little one was so weird. I was just trying to use it on my roots tonight.

I got the TS Titan Mini Flat Iron from Sally's. This flat iron is small. I mean really small. I thought it would be cool for my roots. But I found this is a bit too small. My roots slapped it in the face...like on the soaps. I returned it to Sally's already. So I decided to get a GVP in pink for my root only endeavors. I think I am going to try it tomorrow after I clarify and DC. I'll keep you all posted.

Another update:
So I used the GVP on my roots and I didn't dig it so much. So I went back to Sally's much to their dismay (I have been to each one in town so much they all know me). And I got the Jilbere Nano Silver 1" with the extended plates. I got a free curling iron with it which was a plus. So I tried tonight and my roots seem to like it. And the rest of my hair liked it too. I seemed a lot like my Tool Science flat iron in quality so I am happy with it. Now I just need to master my technique... :weird:

I'm natural and use a FHI flat iron. I love it because it heats up very quickly and I can adjust the temp. Needless to say it straightens my hair like a dream.

I just bought a FHI G2 Technique. Right now I'm on the fence :ohwell: but I WILL say that it heats up quickly and does straighten in one pass. It gets VERY HOT. I guess I just hate the stupid hot sauce that came with it. It makes my hair crackle which I can't stand. But I tried it with the Chi Silk Infusion and those sections of my hair came out a lot softer.

I'm a flat iron newbie and I've heard that straightening is not just the iron but also product and technique. So I'll give it another shot. It worked great on dd's hair which is a little coarser than mine. I'm gonna wait until Christmas to straighten again for my progress pics. Until then I'll cowash to build the moisture back up in my hair.

I do have to say that my cheapie blow dryer sucks rocks. It really did nothing, so I dunno, maybe I need a better one.

Hey!! Yea I know I've been MIA for a minute but I missed you ladies so much I just can't stay away! I'm trying to establish a young adult ministry at my church, so it's taking a lot of my time..no complaints though...I LOVE it!

Your hair is still sooo beautiful, I love the color!!! Lemme know how the FHI G2 Technique works for you...I really need a good flat iron! Maxiglide just isn't cutting it :nono: It doesn't flatten my roots as weel as I'd like cuz it's too big.

What flatiron do YOU rep? Original 1" black CHI!!

Which model is it? GF1001-V
Why do you love it? It just gets my hair so silky and straight with only a couple passes
Are you relaxed, natural or texlaxed? 4a relaxed

Oh my. I thought this thread would help me, but i''m more confused. I don't know which to purchase! Any of you ladies 3c/4a with thin-medium hair? I definitely like the sound of "it gets my hair silky with only one pass" for sure.

Ok, so which do you like best - Fhi or Chi, and why?

What you're working on sounds great! :yep: I can definitely see how it would keep you busy. I haven't used the Fhi any more so I don't have any further opinions on it. I probably won't straighten again for another 3 - 4 weeks. But if your hair is coarse I think you'd like it - it gets really really hot, and unfortunately the model I have cannot be adjusted. It definitely straightened well, I just wasn't satisfied with how dry my hair felt afterwards. :ohwell: It could be the products used, so I'll keep experimenting.

i loved my sedu until it was stolen from me.... n now i love my FHI ...

does anyone know the SET temperature for the Pink on Pink FHI edition.. its a set temp... n i cant find it posted anywhere nor do i know wher my box is...

TIA:grin::grin:

I'm btwn stages with my hair.. I use my babyliss ceramic flat iron.. I can select the heat the lowest is 130oC and the highest is 230oC..The lowest is perfect for straightening my hair (",)

What flatiron do YOU rep? FHI

Which model is it? it's the 206RVI-1"

Why do you love it? i purchased both the sedu and this iron and I sent the sedu back. I was transitioning and I had a short bob cut to begin with. The sedu did good on the relaxed part of my hair, but not newgrowth. The sedu also burned my fingers because I like to hold the plates while moving down the hair.

Are you relaxed, natural or texlaxed? I am natural

I'm relaxed, about 6 mos. post. The Hana is the best flat iron. It makes your hair super silky, and shiny.

I had my hair done at the salon yesterday and my stylist used the CHI on my hair. It was OK, she had to go through my hair at least 3 times to get that swing. I will be using my FHI runway real soon, hopefully I don't have to pass it through my hair so many times.
