Anyone still using Crown & Glory?

I'm still doing it. I just came out of braids a week ago, and my hair grew about 1 inch. I plan to put them back in another week or two. While out I've been deep conditioning and doing hot oil treatments twice a week. I've been wearing a wig with cornrows underneath.

I used to use synthetic hair when it Robin's site first became really popular. Now I only wear large double stranded twists that are easy to work with. (9 of them that I keep in a ponytail) I wear these twists as I squeeze henna on to the scalp and then untwist each section as I henna the twist each one up, when I am done with that section. As I rinse I work with each twist one at a time.

What does this do:
Less breakage and snagging in shower.
More detangling capabilities.
Since it is twisted (sprayed with veg glycerine mix before twisting) Moistured is kept. I find it better than braiding because the twists are easier and quicker to work with. My hair has been growing like a weed.

That sounds like a great technique, but I am not cute in two standed twists...at least not when I use my real hair. Do you add hair to your twists?

Im bumping this thread instead of creating a new one.

I'm really interested to know if anyone else on the board is using the crown and glory method. It doesn't seem very popular on this board.

OR

are there any Fotki members who used have had success with this method and have documented it?

Yep!! Actually that site has helped me the most.
My album is kinda all over that place but feel free to check it out

Yes, my hair is currently in braids. :yep: I plan on doing C&G until I graduate for the sake of time, convenience, and hair health. :yep:

I'm doing the C&G method until the end of 2009 or until I reach waist length...which ever comes first. I keep my braids in for 4-6 weeks.

I am currently in box braids right now and have been for the past 2 months. I am taking them out next weekend and DC 2x a day for a month then right back in braids I go. I will be doing this until Dec. 09 in the hopes of reaching APL by then.

I have always used braids to grow my hair in the winter months after cutting into a short style in summer. I am in box braids right now and have been wearing them since July. I just started to re-braid the edges myself. I usually wear my braids for 2-1/2 months with a two weeks break then rebraid again. I plan on braiding for a full year.

Unfortunately I didn't take pictures this year when I did two strand twists (July - Sept) but this was the first and ONLY time I have ever had braids in where I didn't suffer thinning edges, dry hair and extreme shedding/loss when taking them down.

I used extensions in the twists and my hair did reallly well. Was very happy with the C&G method.

i do the c&g method every summer without fail. i gain a couple of inches each time. it's the only way i can really stretch my relaxer. it's working well for me. if i ever transition, i plan on using c&g for that, too.

I do the C&G method fall and winter. I put them in the end of September and will be taking them down Dec. 2008 for a month and then put them back in for another 2 months and i'll be repeating this until June 2009.

Yup, I'm in the hardcore C&G challenge til dec 2008. Its almost over. I've gotten some great growth. I'll be joining the BUN FOR GROWTH next, but I love the C&G so much that I'll be going back to it as soon as I can.:yep:

Currently in box braids (since 11/1/08-gained nearly 1/2 to 1" so far, redoing in January '09), using the C&G method until June of '09. Depending on how much growth I have achieved, I will either start wet bunning or continue with C&G until December, '09, (hopefully to succeed in the APL by December 2009 Challenge)

I do it. I don't necessarily follow Robin's suggestions to a T, but wearing braid extensions is definitely in my arsenal of protective styles, and I spritz them and keep them moisturised like she teaches.

I used to put the extensions in on a two-month cycle: two months in extensions, two months out of extensions. I definitely got a lot of retention and accumulated a lot of length. Now I have toned it down somewhat, to four months out of extensions, two months in extensions, so that I can enjoy my loose hair more.

Just put braids in this week. Aside from aiding retention, it's good to have this option when you are just sick of your hair and tempted to chop the whole thing off...

I use C&G everytime I have braids or kinky twists... It has really helped my hair grow.. especially after my BC.. I don't do it exactly the way she suggests though.. I dont use infusium or cowash every day

Bump!

I've decided to go back to C&G for at least the next 4 months. I haven't done it in years, and things have changed since then. Since Cream of Nature has changed their shampoo, what SLS free poo is everyone using?
