Why do products with mineral oil give the best shine?

My hair always looks so dry so when I find something that gives it some bling I'm like But then I look at the ingredients and mineral oil is high on the listerplexed

Two products: ORS olive oil in the jar and Razac's perfect for perms give great shine but the have mineral oil, I think ORS has mineral oil as the second ingredient

Even when I use coconut or castor oil, I just dont get that bling...

Anyone noticed this?

I'm going out on a limb here but I think it's b/c mineral oil just sits on the hair and probably reflects the lights. Pure guess.

Aveda's Brilliant Universal Styling creme seems to give my hair good shine, along with their Brilliant oil (forgot the exact name). I'm pretty sure neither product has mineral oil in it.
