Are these legit? because I've heard otherwise.....
And I had bought some Redken Anti Snap at Harris Teeter, but the ingredients on the back of the bottle were different than the ingredients online! :perplexed

I would be careful when buying salon products in a drug store or in a BSS that is not for professionals. You don't know what you are getting. We had a big write up in a local paper that one of our BSS was selling professional stuff, but the stuff that was labeled on the outside of the jar was not inside of the jar. It was something different. I don't know how they found out. I would pay the extra dollars and get it from the salon. That way you know what you are getting and if it does damage you can contact the company directly and they will honor their product because you bought it from a salon. Just my two cents.

I dont' understand what anyone would take the risk of buying salon products from unauthorized retailers (target walmart giant etc) when the prices are the same or more than from a salon.

Yes you can run the risk of using an old formula, bad formula, or just plain counterfeit. This would probably be more of a problemin privately owned asian beauty supply stores that have no return or exchange policy.

There was a topic on here a long time ago where some ladies were noticing that products that they bought from beauty supply store were different from ones they bought in the salon.

If the store isn't a salon (like ulta is) then chances are it was illegally obtained and could be counterfeit.

The thing is in my experience I have found that privately owned beauty supply stores were ALWAYS $3-5+ more than a professional salon. This is especially the case with professional relaxers that are NOT supposed to be sold to the general public.

Also too, around this time of the year, unauthorized dealers go to salons and purchase the gift sets from salons and then they will either take it to there store and resell it as the gift set or break it up and sell the items individually. However, you don't know how long they may have had the product. To me, it really isn't worth it.

If you know someone with a licsense or have a regular stylist that you are cool with, then ask them to pick you the items up from the professional stores. It would be better.

You are soooo right. Also you don't know if that is a professional relaxer or something they just bought from another store and put it in the container. That is what they busted our large BSS for.

Nope no way I wont even buy them at target.

If I am not buying them at a licensed salon then I get them at Ulta.

exactly. Alot of people don't want to believe that but it is true.

Whhhhaaaat?? I am so surprised at the responses. I was sure they were legit.....learn something new everyday. :nono: Wow.

I got my KareCare Foam wrapping lotions from Wally Worlds salon, I hope its legit. And also I got the oil sheen from a big BSS. I will just start getting it from JCP like I do my Chi SI.

Ulta is a licensed salon. . they have one in the store and that is the ONLY reason they are able to carry the array of professional products that they have.

There are only two ways a business can legitimately sell professional hair care products is if they are a professionals only store that sells to only professionals or a licensed salon. . . if the business does not fit under one of the two categories then you have reason to suspect.

I heard places like Walgreens, CVS, Walmart, etc. have legit items but they may be outdated. The companies like Redken, Chi, etc. allow these places to sell what didn't sell in the salons rather than take a complete loss. So that product could've been sitting in the salon for months, passed on to Walmart where it could be on the shelf for many more months. They are legit but possibly expired or old formulas. This is why I stopped purchasing them in drugstores and go to Ulta or Trade Secret(sometimes it's cheaper at these 2 places!).

Now BSS that stuff could come from ANYWHERE.

The products in the respected drugstores and markets are legit.

They have sales people that represent the companies and provide the products. They even stock it and provide inventory - the stores do not handle it themselves.

Anyway, they are often more expensive in those places, from what I have seen. I think some salons and places like Ulta and Beauty First have better deals and sales. Even JC penny will have a sale and you can use coupons to get good deals.

That is why I would not buy from a drugstore, unless I was desperate and have run out of something that I need right then.
