Gonna start stretching soon myself, just wondering of the different styles that allows you to maintain your stretch successfully. All welcome :yep: Thanks in advance...Anna

Hey Anna !

I loved braidouts and twistouts when I was transitioning. They saved my hair for real. I did buns for a hot minute but my best bet was always braidouts!!!

Also, try getting your hand on some "Cowboy Magic" detangler and shine serum. I ordered mine from valleyvet.com. This stuff is amazing. Research it yourself on here. I can't wait until my next transition to really put it to use. It made my 4a/b hair very manageble. HTH.

I wear my hair pinned up. I'm at 23 weeks post today. I don't want to manipulate the hair at all so the part (bangs) that i wear out usually gets fingercombed.

I agree with doing braidouts/twistouts during a stretch. I LOVE doing that during a stretch. I also think wigs and 3/4 wigs are a HUGE help during a stretch. All I do is braid my hair up underneath a wig, leaving hair out at the front if I have to, and don't have to manipulate it much at all. I retained SO much length with wigs and will continue to do so. :yep: I usually alternate between twistouts/braidouts and wigs during the last part of my stretch.

I tend to bun more during the first half of my stretch. My buns start looking a little puny toward the end of my stretch with all of the shrinkage. :ohwell:

gaballdawg thats interesting, and sounds like something I would have to do also. Switch styles during a stretch. Awesome tips girls keep um coming. Thanks Anna

Haven't yet recovered from my damage (which is how I found this wonderful site) Growing back pretty good, still breakage in the nape. I'm wearing french braids for now. Kinda awkward length right now, more hair in the front than back.....front is getting lengthy. I lost a lot of length in the back do to my damaging my hair. Not quite a good bun length. All suggestions welcome ;) Anna

I actually like wearing my hair down after 10 weeks. I always wash and condition my hair in sections. It's a pain in the butt but I don't like the way my ponytail looks after week ten. From week 1 to week 10 I am usually co-washing and bunning afterwards though.

I rollerset or flat-iron.

I pin-curled yesterday and my hair came out looking like an oompa-loompa. I think I'll throw on a wig to combat this feeling.

I bun (normally by just twisting my hair up and into a roll... kind of like a french twist).

If there is a VERY SPECIAL reason I want to look cute I may do a braid out or twist out (if I want it to dry faster) or let it air dry after being moisturized well (so it curls up and looks pretty) and then style it up some kind of way. That is only if I really MUST look particularly nice, cause just throwing my hair into a bun has made me too lazy to bother with much else LOL.

From touchup to 5 weeks post, I wear straight styles and buns. After 5 weeks to retouch time (approx. 13 weeks), I wear spiral sets like this:

Since I don't use direct heat, this style is the best for hiding my kinky new growth. Plus, with some nighttime pincurling, it lasts all week.

I do alot of buns, usually pulling out a couple of curly tendrils in the front. I sometimes go get it flat ironed out or do that myself.

I put box braids in my hair to help with stretching. And I use curlformers if my hair is not braided b/c they are great at flattening my newgrowth so well.
