Yesterday morning on the way to taking the boys to school, I had a car accident. The airbag deployed and it hit my right arm. I have a distal radial fracture. I will probably be in a cast for a while but won't know for sure till I go to a orthropedic doctor. I didn't realize how hard it would be to do my hair till I tried it this morning. I could not put it in a ponytail for nothing! My mom had to do it for me, I felt like I was five. What am I suppose to do?

BTW, it took me forever to type this too, and I probably won't be posting much either.

The only thing I can think, is find someone to do it for you, I am sorry this happened, I am glad you are okay and your boys.

I second Glamazon's suggestion. Do you do well with braids or cornrows? That would give you a break from having to worry about your hair. I hope you get well soon. Sorry about your accident. Glad you are OK.

Awwww sorry to hear that you broke your wrist. I would maybe get the hair braided up either in cornrows or individuals, with the individuals you wouldn't have to worry about doing your hair for a minute til' your wrist heals which may be a while.

so sorry to hear this.

get better.

Aww at least you and your boys are ok, that is the most important thing. I agree also i think it will be a chance to give your hair a break unless you have someone you trust to do it HTH

I agree with Nonie-braids or go to the salon. I also think that although it will be a bit harder and a bit more time consuming you can try to use just your left and move your head more if you don't want anyone else to do your hair-its not impossible. I wouldn't want to risk stressing the distal radial area until you go to your MD and u can get some feedback. I hope it heals soon!

I co-sign with the others...glad you and the kids are OK, and I would head to the salon/braider pronto for a set of cornrows or individuals that would last several weeks.

Wow! I don't mean to sound dumb but did the airbag hurt?? Are you all ok? I just wanted to post my well wishes and say prayerfully you'll have a quick recovery.

He!! yeah the airbag hurt!! And I can usually handle pain. The boys are fine-other than being a little tramatized and worried about me. We all had on our seatbelts and I think that helped a lot. I can't imagine how bad it would had been if we didn't.

Well, I did consider some twist or something but I don't have 250 to give to the Africans, and I don't know anyone that can do cornrows. Well, I do but they can't do them well and I don't think I trust them anyway. I will just probably wear my hair down. Didn't want to do that since it's getting cold. I wanted to do the bun challenge but that's not possible now. I had got used to doing it too as I have been wearing buns all week. ~Sigh~

Sorry about your arm pumpkin....God's Speed to Recovery!
Maybe you can get some updo's for awhile. Some twists to an updo would look good as well. At least you wont have to worry about it.

Do you have a wig you like? I'd get the not so good cornrowers to put some cornrows in, and then put a wig on top.

I'm sorry for you injury, and I hope that you heal soon. :hug3:

post an ad on craigslist specifying you want a braider...you even get to pick the price that way. i did that this summer asking about sew-ins and got sooo many replies from other college students and the like who do hair on the side.

UPDATE:

Well, I am in a cast now and it looks like I will be for the rest of the year. Yeah:ohwell:. But the good news is I can fix my hair!! When the orthro gave me my cast on Tuesday(I was in a splint before) he wrapped it to where my fingers are out and I can somewhat make a fist. Which means I can at least hold my hair for a ponytail or bun. Now don't worry, I won't *** up my wrist more. That hand will just be holding, the left hand will be doing the manipulating for the bun and stuff. I am left-handed anyway so it works out. If I don't play around with it and do it quickly it doesn't bother me. It hurts more to type than that!! So I get to have my buns. I'm a spoiled brat anyway, so I was going to find a way to get it done.:grin: It actually doesn't look too bad, I just tried it. It's not a tight bun but it's ok long as it doesn't look messy. I just can't stand wearing my curly hair down, it looks frizzy and dries it out.

Thank you all for the suggustions and well wishes. I will be around but not much posting as I said it hurts to type.

Yes. . .please don't post much! I got in a car accident around this time last year and I was in a splint for the longest before hand therapy. If I would've stopped going online as much, it prob would've healed a lil quicker :yep: Be safe, ma'am!

Glad to hear you can still function with your hair. If it starts to hurt or be difficult, just go to a salon for awhile and just make sure they know what you want them to do.

I am so sorry for your accident and i'm glad you and you boys are safe. I'm glad you're able to do your hair at least at the minimum. I know people suggested going to a salon but you would still have to keep that style up and maintenence on your hair, but braids are a good idea. ;)
