I'm 5 months post and I'm already thinking of relaxing my hair again. The pictures of other people hair isn't motivating anymore.. if anything it's pissing me off! I don't know my hair type yet, and the way I desire my hair I'm starting to notice it won't grow out like that. It's like there's alot of area's my hair texture looks 3b/3c like but my 4a area's are in the very front and such and I can't determine how to do my hair when I dont want to straighten it. I been good for the first 3 to 4 months in wash and go's but now I can't do a wash and go at ALL!

I tried braidouts, I tried bantu knots. Their not for me and my head shape at the lenght my hair is. It's not quite long enough to have a nice bun.

I was thinking of getting Micros maybe? I'm picky about sew-ins so im holding off on that. I never had micros in my life and heard it takes your edges off, but I was wondering if anyone has any good pictures with long micros or can direct me to some good micro pictures.

I was baggying my ends for the first 4 months and did great until I started slipping and it's starting to show lol. I had to trim my ends after I tried to go awhole year without, i instead went 9 months.

I don't shampoo anymore so I every 4 to 5 days I:
- DC with Olive oil or prepoo with conditioner/protein and olive oil either over night or for some hours if I'm not under the dryer.
- when i rinse it out I rinse with ACV
- co-wash with Suave Tropical coconut
- for a year I been on Redken's Smooth down butter treat and stopped a month ago so I just got back on it, i normally use this instead of the Suave con
- blow out and flat iron
- at night I try to baggy every night but I end up just placing a scarf on my hair and hide my ends up in the tail of the scarf.

Im really considering relaxing and just stretching up to 4 months.

Hi naaturelle: Don't throw in the towel just yet! I visited your Fotki and I don't think you're being fair to yourself or your hair goals. Per your Fotki, you don't have any plans to BC until your natural hair is SL...depending on a host of factors (genetics, diet, etc), this could take several years.

You also mention, "...the way I desire my hair I'm starting to notice it won't grow out like that." What's your hair vision? At this point, if you haven't BC'd, how can you tell how your hair is growing?

My two cents: I don't think you should relax your hair - your hair is beautiful. Transitioning is not easy (ask our President-elect!) and everyone has their own journey but if you're going to "go natural," you're going to have to go through this phase. And like all phases, ya get through it! I would suggest getting some two-strand twists and wear them throughout the winter months. In the spring, re-examine your hair and if you're still unhappy, consider all your options and move forward. Until that time, I think you should "dig in" and give your natural hair a chance. HTH

Hugs.

Hi Naaturelle--

I've been reading this forum for about 4 months and this is my first post. Your cry for help inspired me.

I've been transitioning for 10 months and I just thought to myself this week, that I'm just starting to get past the hard part. Month 5 is when it got difficult to me and I slapped my hair into some kinky twists and kept it moving. While my hair was in twists, I did a lot of reading (and shopping) so I would be ready to deal with it when I took them out. I wore twists until Month 9 with breaks in between.

For the last month, I have been building my regimen and have found that daily CW really helps to keep my hair managable and moisturized. It also changed my expectations of what my hair should look like because I have to come up with some kind of style from wet hair everyday. Now that my hair is long enough to bun (tiny little bun), I CW about 4-5 times a week.

Hang in there for 5 more months and do whatever you have to (braids, wigs, etc.) to give yourself a break. Good luck!

Sorry I don't have any pictures up yet, that's my next project to work on.

I was ready to throw in the towel until I did my first flat twist set. Why not leave twist outs alone and try to braid or twist your hair to hide it? I am 18 weeks post and twist outs look horrible on m e, but the set does look awesome on me.:yep: We will support you if you decide to relax. Don't stress too much.:nono:

Don't give up you can do it. Im 4 months post right now myself. I usually hide my hair in kinky twistjust took mine out. As mentioned. getting braids or twists will help. This way you don't have to deal with you hair much except for wash and moisturize. I have gotten great growth that way. Its ultra low manipulation.

girl dont get micros, yes they can take your hair out, get just reg braids just to get through this phase until you can put it up and things will be much smoother from then on

question, you do a protein treatment every 4 to 5 days? and an ACV rinse?

I think that might be too much/too often

Yeah I know, I'm horrible at that. It's my love-hate relationship, a bad habit. But there are just alot of transitioning hairstyles that don't look right with me or go well with me. I do need to do more experimenting.

Thanks everyone so much! Plus irresistible you were one of my Fotki-Fav's, I saw your hair awhile ago on here and saw your fotki :)

I read somewhere that around this time of transitioning it gets really hard but I forgot about. I spoke to my friend/co worker who I convinced to transition as well and I do her sow-ins.... and she was telling me to just do the same to give my hair a break and im considering it.. i just need to get the money for it. Its hard to find hairstyles now other than straightening my hair, twists and braids with just my hair doesn't go to well either. Im trying :(
