Noir,
Your hair is beautiful!!!.
And I'm sure this is quite off the topic of what you plan to discusss. But... Please tell me what GHD is and also why you sat under the soft bonet for an hour is that a hair dryer?
I would also like to know how long were you on your journey to get your hair that long and strong? TIA

yes its a hair dryer

Thanks ladies :)

The GHD is awesome http://www.ghdhair.com/us/ http://sephora.com/browse/section.j...0&_DARGS=/includes/brandFinderFragrance.jhtml

There was a time where I was flat ironing my hair 2x a week with this thing but I hardly had any damage.

It is a little pricey but it is worth it. It is cheaper than it used to be.

Thank You hot chocolate :)!

Yes like dlewis said it is a hood dryer. I use this one http://us.st12.yimg.com/us.st.yimg.com/I/yhst-96428644373210_2026_34661085

I am trying to avoid direct heat from the blow dryer so I will be using the soft bonnet at home from here on out and then I'll get a blow out when I go to the salon.

As for my hair journey. Honestly I started on this journey like 3 months ago. I didn't have any kind of regimen sometimes I wouldn't wash my hair for weeks and weeks :look: and I abused heat. I was APL around summer time but the last few months I have been co-washing like crazy and DC 1-2x a week. I also only comb or brush my hair 1-2x week, so i usually wear a wash and go and buns.

I have recently started an Ayurveda regimen so I can't wait to see the progress I get with that.

are you relaxed? how long will your hair stay straight?
No I am not relaxed but hair is kinda schizophrenic lol.

The front and outer parameters (back and sides which seem to have a looser curl pattern) are 100% natural and the middle of my hair is texturized towards the ends. I am slowly trimming those off. So I would say that I am 70-75% natural.

As for how long it will last well, if I keep my hair wrapped or pin curled and covered during the nights It will last close to 2 weeks (like in my siggy)

I also use L'anza straightening balm and serum before drying which makes a WORLD of difference.

This doesn't have a temperature control, right? Do you know the temp that is its 'default'?

Thanks for starting this thread btw..

LOL i thought your siggy pic was relaxed hair. Who knew? LOL

thanks for this thread, you've helped me so much you don't even know.

Thanks everybody :)

Wow your hair is beautiful.
Do you ever wear it curly?
Thanks nikki!

Yea I usually wear it curly. I hardly wear it straight these days.

You're welcome cookie.

You're correct the GHD does not have a temp control. The default or shut off temp mark was 230 (i thought that it was 300 something but I just checked) BUT The new GHD (the mk 4 which I am using in pics) has a maximum temp of 180 but usually stays around 160-170

GHD lowered the temp to 180 because they state that anything over 180 will eventually cause damage.

Aww thanks no I did a BC years back, went natural for a year before texturizing. Now i'm transitioning again.

I'm glad I was able to help :)

Your hair looks amazing!! Where do you get one of those??
You can purchase it at Sephora and online (stay away from ebay.... the majority of GHD's are fakes) You can also buy it at a few top salons like Toni & Guy.

Your hair looks silky!! Nice! I want a GHD soooo bad. I'm so glad you made a thread about this, OP. :)

LOL may I ask why :look:

Maybe I've been watching too many scary movies with shadows that show up in mirrors. But, the picture is dark and I see a faint outline of your hair. It seems kind of apparition-like. ( No offense)
:lachen: girl don't go freaking me out now. I am already paranoid as it is... and I dunno why the pic came out so dark thb I had the flash on and a lamp :perplexed

i have never owned a flat iron and promised not ot get one but with results like that......WOW!!! the temptation is coming right back!!!!!
Great hair!!!
