How do YOU pre poo

My prepoo mix consists of a cheapie con (usually V05 S&C) along with an oil or 2 (EVOO, castor oil, and/or amla oil). Sometimes I add a dollop of Porosity Control or PM The Detangler.

I cover the mix with a conditioning cap and leave it on for 30 min - 1 hour then shampoo and deep condition.

i know i should know this by now, but i still haven't figured out the point of conditioning then washing it back out, then conditioning again

I had a question...do you rinse out your pre-poo before shampooing or do you put the shampoo in your hair while the prepoo is still on your hair?

it depends on how my hair is feeling. if i need a bit of protein, i'll use a protein-based deep conditioner. moisture? i'll use a moisture based conditioner. but if the product has parabens, i won't leave it on my head for more than 10 minutes with heat.

some of my favorite prepoo concoctions:

moisture:
- suave tropical coconut conditioner + a banana + coconut milk + raw honey

protein:
- an egg, organic maple syrup, plain yogurt, glycerin

i'll leave it on with heat for about 1/2 an hour, rinse that out partially in the shower, apply shampoo to my scalp if i'm shampooing that day, rinse, use a quick conditioner, rinse again, apply leave-in, then style as usual. if i'm not shampooing that day, all i do is rinse out the pre-poo, then apply a leave-in.

needshealthnlength: You can pre poo before co washing if you want. Some folks pre poo with Vatika Frosting before co washing

Browniemiss: I never really thought about that :scratchch I personally rinse first, but I don't see the harm in putting the poo on top of the pre poo :yep:

To answer the OP, I pre poo with amla oil. I've found that pre pooing with conditioners just don't cut it for me. When I use oil, my hair feels detangled, soft and moisturized after I shampoo :)

I rinse mine out.
What if your just doing a co wash can u still pre poo ?

You can, but I don't. I
if i'm not mistaken you leave the mix in as you shampoo
I rinse mine out. This works for my hair.

To answer OP....I prepoo with oils or cheapie conditioners. I put them in over night and do my hair the next day. I use conditioners most of the time.

I don't know if I have told you, but your hair is beautiful Tiffers!!

I pre poo overnight on the weekends. During the week I pre poo for about an hour. I use Vatika Frosting. I put a plastic cap on and get under the dryer for 30 minutes too. I rinse out before shampooing.

I'm right there with ya sista! I just started pre pooing a month ago, but not sure if I even need this step.

I prepoo with Pantene R&N anti-breakage DT with a little Jamaican castor oil on my ends. Slather it on dry hair. Or I'll pre-poo with oil to start finger detangling. Or spritz a little water/glycerin/honey, then brush (yes brush) shea butter into my dry hair and leave in overnight.

I do a deep oiling with vatika oil, be my hair loose or in twists, or a twist out, then I massage my scalp and put my hair in a bun and then sleep with my satin scarf on.

I shampoo the next day.

I prepoo by putting ORS Hair Mayo on my dry hair and I'll leave it on overnight. It really makes my hair soft and more manageable.

I don't pre-poo before co-washing, but I don't think that would do any harm.

I do pretty much the same thing as empressri but with either butters/oils. I slather my hair in my butter concoction with coconut oil layered on top..and sometimes i add conditioner to my hair if its feeling a little dry. Then i just sleep and wake up and wash it.

Yup, I've done that too! My hair likes the oils better it seems though, but I have some butters I need to use up!

I can't pre-poo for hours or a long period of time. My hair doesn't like that at all. I usually use cholesterol as a pre-poo. Last week I used cholesterol and put warm garlic olive oil on top of it and ooh that felt good. I think I will do that again when I take my weave down.

After a week, despite moisturing, my hair is pretty dried out. So:

1. I apply S-Curl to get the strands wet
2. Then I apply my own mix of 25% cheapie condish, 75% oil, mollasses, lard, honey mixed with egg yolk
3. Leave it on overnight.

i love to pre poo with banana brulee for hours, sometimes over night. mmy hair loves it. and because its a deep conditioner sometimes i dont have to deep condition afterwards, i will just do a 3 minutes treatment.
